It’s like casting directors just now heard of Javier Bardem….
In addition to being offered the role of Roland Deschain, Bardem has reportedly been offered the part of the new Bond villain.
According to Deadline Hollywood Daily, it’s just an offer, and there’s no word from Bardem’s camp. He’s kind of busy being a new dad, so I’m sure he’s not in a rush to jump on any big action flick that lands on his desk.
There’s not much more to say, as the other Bond news is all studios jockeying for finance and distribution and what have you.
But Bardem would make a good Bond villain. I believe he could kick Daniel Craig’s ass, or at least give him a run for his money. Is it possible he might choose this and leave The Dark Tower to someone else?

Playing a one-off Bond villain in a fast-tracked movie shot mostly in a studio in England would probably be a much more condusive-to-being-a-new-dad gig than a major commitment to a multi-picture, multimedia franchise. Not to mention a better way to keep post-Oscar-nom options liquid. I’m here to state the obvious, I guess. Or give Liz some more fodder for her wishful thinking.
So much for having a female bond villain. I heard Rachel Weisz was rumoured to be a Bond villain, but that was before the MGM fiasco. Mah well. Maybe we’ll get a one-off scene with him reuniting with his pressure gun.
He was also offered the role of the “villain” in Wall Street 2, but passed, so it is not a sure bet that he will take this.
It’d be awesome to see him or someone else set up as a serious antagonist for Craig’s Bond. The Mr. White character was too much of a punching bag.
I doubt this is true. Remember when Al Pacino was said to be the villain in QOS? Turned out to be BS. This sounds like BS.
