Well yeah, that’s the easy part.
This is of course Meryl Streep made up to look like Margaret Thatcher, circa 1982. You can check out the details from David’s coverage when he caught wind of this biopic, but the basics are: Jim Broadbent will join Streep as Denis Thatcher in a story about the weeks before The Falklands War. This political struggle ended up netting Thatcher her best approval ratings ever, and a second term. It’s being directed by Phyllida Lloyd (Mama Mia!) and it’s called Iron Lady. There will be a Samuel L. Jackson cameo, and Streep has signed a 9-picture deal in preparation for franchise crossover.

Wow. That broad’s a chameleon.
Well, lets hope this is the Inglorious Basterds version, where Maggie is machine gunned to death at the end by some Trade Unionists after systematically destroying any British Industry you care to name and accelerating the death knell of privatisation, all whilst ushering in a wonderful era of greed and widening the gulf between the rich and poor (you know, those folk who lived just outside – say anywhere North – of the M25)
If this film even attempts to portray her as some sort of feisty heroine who saved Britain I’ll be picketing this one with a fury akin to a Daily Mail reader picketing a British Film Council funded Islamic Fundamentalist re-imagining of AntiChrist.
JamBanjo, I couldn’t have possibly put it better myself.
