Media: Zero films.
Music: Galactic, live at The Variety Playhouse in Little Five Points. Opening act was Orgone. Corey Glover of Living Colour did vocals for the band and did it well. Was fun to hear them do LC’s ‘Love Rears its Ugly Head’ (a pic I snapped during).
Comedy: Nada.
Food/Drink: A nice Italian sandwich at the deli with Steve. Tapas as Prohibition with John before the concert. I had a delightful modified bourbon sour from my favorite bartender in the world (Bob Ruede) and a Newcastle at the concert.
Family: We all blurred past each other all day. Mom was really helpful in keeping the kids thrilled while I darted around in preparation for the trip.
Friends: Steve came by for a while to work on tunes and hang out. John stopped by before the concert. We played darts until my electronic dart board went home to Jesus. Looks like a trip to Dick’s is in order.
Work: Started screen grabs for Unstoppable. Sci-Fi and Blog. Of course!
Art: If you consider working on Wizard’s Keys album cover art… then THAT.
Goodies: Nein.
Screenwriting: Nope.
Projects: Didn’t work on dick.
Minutia: My best wishes go out to Steve Alten’s family as they deal with health concerns for a loved one. We get spam emails from someone named Marc Adler. I hope he dies.
Activity: Running around.
Shrink’s Chair: It’s getting harder and harder not to get violently physical with someone who’s asking for it. The guy at the concert was so close to just making me lose my shit. Then I remembered that my wife wouldn’t even hear the call from the jail until morning.
Asshole(s) of the Day: The drunk dude behind me who kept whistling louder than loud and bumping into me constantly during his incoherent “dancing”. The other drunk guy in sunglasses who was dancing like an idiot for two straight hours, the whitest of the white. The bouncer with the giant roll of fat coming out from the bottom of his shirt.
True Trivia: I once responded to a money-making ad in the paper when I was in my early twenties. I sat in on a seminar on Dunwoody, GA. for an hour before I realize I was being recruited for Scientology.
Link of the Day: I guess it’s better than folks not mentioning me at all. I don’t know this guy, but he’s one of the web guys out there in LA and I am most definitely not of that circle and most likely a common target of their scorn for some time now. It’s in reference to this article, which I totally stand by.
Looking ahead to tomorrow: Tidying up my stuff before the trip!

Glover! Nice. He was still amazing when LC appeared at Criminal a year or so ago.

Newsflash: you’re the subject of scorn precisely because of bitter, mean-spirited “articles” like the one you linked to… in which you personally attack a successful filmmaker you’ve never met in the most childish way possible. Wan is only responsible for the first SAW film, and he retained producer credit on the sequels due to that fact. Say what you will about him – and I’ll say that INSIDIOUS is one of the better horror films of recent years – but having had the misfortune of reading the abysmal snippets of scripts you used to post here (THE CRAWL was s steaming slice of Awful Pie so painful to read that it nearly broke my laptop monitor) I don’t think you’re in any position to throw stones. Also, isn’t your name on GRIZZLY PARK? Now there’s a film that’s true dogshit.
But hey, maybe one day someone will throw you a few duckets to finance that atrociously unfunny 11 COLONELS ATTACK project you announced for years that no one was interested in. Because everything you revealed of it seemed about as funny as Abu-Graib.
Seriously, you attack the guy’s name and physical appearance while also tossing out hyperbolic absurdities like the claim that he “set the genre back twenty years,” and then you wonder why you’re called out on it. Simple: it’s a major douche move, Nick. And the fact that you still claim to stand by it without remotely understanding the reason it didn’t sit right with folks just proves why you’re not a part of anything out here on the West Coast.
Well, that and the fact that you welsh on payment to your contributors.
