Finally, I can talk about this little film I had a tiny hand in helping get made. Finally the movie will get the release it deserves with the marketing it deserves on tons of screens with our ‘R’ rating intact. Finally you will get to see this movie in a hopefully packed house right as the summer movie season is losing its big superhero stuff and allowing the smaller, more unique fare to get its day in the sun.
Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. August 12th.
Why you need to see it:
- It’s great.
- It’s the debut feature from Troy Nixey, a friend of mine who I…
- introduced to my gentlemanly friend Guillermo del Toro, who…
- wrote and produced it, channeling…
- his love of monsters and dark and scary places on the fringe of the world we know.
- It’s produced by the legendary Mark Johnson, the amazing Tom Williams, the superb Bill Horberg…
- and a whole mess of other people…
- including me.
- But really, it features monsters who want to devastate a little girl…
- and that’s all you need to know.
Guy Pearce. Katie Holmes. Bailee Madison. From Miramax and FilmDistrict.
Watch the trailer. With the lights low and the sound high.

Congrats Nick, good to hear its finally about to be unleashed! Any news on a release date for us Down Under folk?
Congratulations and couldn’t be more excited to see it, but it’s still frustrating that it’s many months away when the originally planned release date was — when? — last month?
Still, thrilling news. I guess Red Dawn will probably be announced any time now as well.
Whoa. Cool.
I went to see Devil and was extremely high when I went in; low and behold this was the first trailer that came on. Never scare a high person like that again or you’ll give us a heart attack. Looks great man.
This is beyond great! Congrats Nick and I hope this movie comes to my area.
Really looking forward to it!
Looking forward to it Nick.
A great trailer … can’t wait to re-watch it at home and not under the bright fluorescent lights of work
