Your prayers have been answered. At least, I assume you were praying for this. If not, well …
Deadline reports that Shane Black is in final negotiations to direct Iron Man 3.
There are hints within Deadline’s report that Black’s name may have been leaked to gauge fan reaction. Marvel’s done this before, and I wondered if the wave of positivity that spread across the Internet might not tilt things into Black’s favor.
At this point, it’s not known if Black will also be writing the script to Iron Man 3. Marvel, if you’re listening — let him. Really. We’re cool with that.
In addition to making a swell Iron Man installment, this should give Black a ton of franchise and big budget cred. I feel confident those of us who want a Doc Savage movie just saw that inch a little closer to reality.

WHAT?!
Woo Hoo! I think he will do a great job, and I REALLY want a Doc Savage movie. I was hoping that Captian America would do really well just so the small minded studio heads would see that a period action movie will work. I was a little afraid that the Meh of Green Hornet would hurt Savage just because the characters originated in the same era. GO BLACK!
I’m not that familiar with the rogues gallery of Iron Man foes, but something needs to be found for Val Kilmer. Worst case scenario = Gay Perry: Supervillain.
Wow, there is so much wrong with this. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a fun movie, but it is ALL he’s directed, not to mention he hasn’t worked in features in over 5 years. This hardly fills me with the confidence you seem to have, Elisabeth.
I hop Black is braver with the narrative than Favreau.
and Favreau was such a journeyman when he took it on?
FUCK YEAH!
All is right in the universe!
Except Wahlberg as Drake :S
yeah, he was considereably more seasoned than this guy.
Seasoned or not, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang didn’t feel like a first gig.
Favreau directed Made (shitty) and Elf (meh) before Iron Man. I wouldn’t call that ‘considerably more seasoned’.
