Very few of you have much faith in Thor. Asgard looks too plastic. The film looks too small in scope. There is no wow moment.
I think the theatrical trailer might change that. Of course, I said that about the Super Bowl spot, so by now you’re probably shrugging me off.
But this is a trailer. We finally see how Thor arrives on Earth (complete with Angl0-Saxon crop circle), and how he comes to meet Jane and Kat Dennings. Stellan Skarsgard does a double take, thinking it’s his son.
There’s also some good humor on display. Thor does what any Viking god would do in a diner, and it’s a good touch.
And you get to see the Big Bad: The Destroyer.
Why am I describing it? Just watch.

Branagh has only made one bad movie, so I’m totally stoked for Thor.

I never planned on being hyped on a damn Thor movie, but this looks like a pretty great popcorn flick. Bring the wrath of the Gods Branagh!

Can anyone explain how the Norse multi-deity religion will play out in this movie? I think it looks pretty good but I can’t imagine how they are going to rationalise a living god superhero.
Awesome. Haven’t been disappointed by what I’ve seen so far, and this trailer only ratchets up my anticipation for the movie. And the Destroyer? Bad ass. He looks just like John Buscema drew him.

Ultra, as in the comics, I imagine Odin feels Thor needs to be taught a lesson on humility, and banishes him to Midgard (Earth), stripped of his powers. He has to earn his powers back, and in doing so, falls in love with humans and decides to stay on Earth and help defend them. In a nutshell, that’s how you get a god for a superhero.
So the one true religion in the Marvel universe is the Norse Viking religion? That’s brilliant, I would love to see Christian, Muslim and Jewish protesters outside the cinema waving placards condemning this film as heretical and blasphemous. That would be incredibly funny.
