Marvel took publicity materials in their own hands last night, and released a bunch of new photos from Captain America: First Avenger and Thor.
I won’t post them all here (there’s seven of Cap alone, and there’s no way to tidily post them all) but these are my favorites. If you want more, (specifically glimpses of Tommy Lee Jones and the Cosmic Cube), or to see bigger versions, then visit Marvel.
I think this is one of the best looks at Cap’s uniform we’ve had so far. A lot of people really hate its WW2 design, but I like it. I think it’s a nice compromise between realism and comic exaggeration, and it fits beautifully with historical WW2 propaganda. I hope they keep the look, but update the material for The Avengers, and underline Cap-as-young-curmudgeon.

Captain America, beat up and tied down. Chris Evans looks so mature. I thought he would inevitably look too young for Steve Rogers, but he looks perfect here.

I suspect there will be a lot of men who fall in love with Hayley Atwell in this film. I don’t know if there are any public television junkies reading this, but she was lovely in Any Human Heart. If she’s half as entrancing in this, many of you are done for. I will simply be in love with her jacket.

Finally, there are two new photos from Thor. One is an image we essentially saw in the trailer, so I will just post this unseen picture and interpret Jane Foster’s thoughts for you:
“Oh no. You’re one of those Renaissance Faire guys, aren’t you?”

Those Cap pictures are great!
Elisabeth Rappe, I am not a…PBS Junkie, but, I did watch, Any Human Heart for Hayley Atwell alone.
Of course THOR’s reply to her would be…I Say Thee Nay! I am the…God Of Thunder, not some mere actor, Milady.
I…Love the pics though!
I still think Captain America looks like a giant condom.
I finally watched The Losers last night, and felt despair that this dill weed Evans is playing Cap. I was probably the only person who though John Krasinski was an inspired choice for cap. Oh well…
cap needs the scales. scales = cap.
“I was probably the only person who though John Krasinski was an inspired choice for cap.”—-Probably not, seeing as how he was actually in the running.
Those Cap pics are about a month or more old.
According to Marvel.com, who posted them, they are brand new, though some have appeared in magazines that were scanned and put online. This is the first time they’ve been widely available.
