Lots and lots of white men on that list…

All of my favorites are listed.  This is a fair if not super safe list…

There’s a lot of people on there that I wouldn’t put among the “greatest working directors,” but that’s just because it seems like a lofty title that many haven’t earned. Abrams makes 2 movies, both good action flicks, and then immediately makes “best working directors”? Pretty hilarious. To say nothing of Bigelow’s inclusion based on the fact that she made two good movies in her life and the rest were crap, but I’m glad they put a girl on there anyway.
Truth be told though… shit, George Lucas should be on the list before those two. At least he has a stronger legacy – he made THREE good movies. Also, Francis Ford Coppola still directs and should be up there before the two I mentioned as well. Yes, I realize I’m listing directors that are largely believed to have gone massively downhill, but they are working directors who have also been among our greats at one time or another. I think they’d qualify, but I guess we’re going by “you’re only as good as your last picture.”
Of course, if that were the case, Peter Jackson wouldn’t be on the list, so nevermind. His last two pictures were pretty much bunk, and somehow he’s still in the top 25? Mmmmmhmmmm.
OK, let’s take a step back.
I’m sure I could find a director who’s still working, who’s STILL making great movies, who’s proven to be far more skilled in both his simple camerawork and his editing than someone like J.J. Abrams, but I wonder who could
Alfonso Cuarón.

Not a bad list. I’m glad Tim Burton didn’t make the top 25, but I think Ridley Scott certainly belongs in the top 10. And I think that Terry Gilliam and Michael Mann should be on it too.

First of all, they’ve decided to forget about 90% of the world and have left off all non-English directors (well, except Pedro). Secondably, get JJ Abrams the fuck off that list please. And where’s Woody Allen? I know he hasn’t done anything great in ages, but he once did and he is still working. While Abrams has done all of two mediocre movies in his life. My replacement, I suppose, would be Alfonso Cuaron.

Also, Steven Soderbergh.

Danny Boyle should be in the top 10… but aside from that, I think this is a solid list.

Any list that doesn’t have Scorsese at #1 (and I love me some Fincher) is balls.

Hmmm. Hate to say it, but Scorcese no longer belongs that high on the list. Danny Boyle and David O. Russel are as overrated as it gets and belong either off, or in Boyle’s case, at the very end of this list. And Tarantino and Aranovsky ahead of PT anderson? I have a problem with that one. Very much like seeing Bigelow on this list. Been a very long time coming. Names I think should be in this conversation:
Todd Philips, Michael Mann, Curtis Hanson, Andrew Dominik, Adam McKay, Ben Affleck, Joe Wright, Zack snyder and Jason Reitman…

Get Bigelow and Russell off the list for the exact same reason. I’m not saying that “HURT” & “FIGHTER” aren’t phenomenol films but besides those two the greatest movie to their COMBINED repetoires is “THREE KINGS” followed by “POINT BREAK”. Really? Good movies..? Debatable- ok-whatever but enough to merit to be called amongst the 25 best in the biz? I don’t think anyone with sense stands behind that. Fuck that noise in it’s fuck hole. Replace them with any of these directors:

Some of the above mentioned haven’t made a “great” in some time…but what about LYNCH? Who I think  totally deserves to be on that list hasn’t made a good movie (again debatably) in at least 5 years. Moving on. If we ARE going to throw it at people with 2 or less PHENOMENOL movies (becuase of newness to the game which is NOT the case for Bigelow or Russell) then fuckin’ A’! Even: JOON-HO BONG, MARTIN McDONAGH, MATTHEW VAUGHN, STEPHEN CHOW, RIAN JOHNSON, ZACK SNYDER, JODY HILL, NACHO VIGALONDO, & BEN AFFLECK deserve it more. However since I’m sure it’s based on Academy buzz all these aforementioned directors obviously superior talent and affinity in some cases for less Oscar baitey material leaves them up fecal creek.

Andrew Stanton in place of Brad Bird, and Hayao Miyazaki in place of Abrams. Mission Impossible III and Star Trek makes a person one of the best working directors? PUH-leaze.

Wait a minute…. where the HELL is Tommy Wiseau??

Needs to go on the list: Alfonso Cuaron, Park Chan-Wook, Bong Joon-Ho, Fernando Meirelles and Jean Pierre Jeunet.
Needs to come off the list: JJ Abrams, David Lynch, Kathryn Bigelow, Roman Polanski and David O. Russel.

Holy fuck, the Chudites have gone crazy. It’s just a list of directors, people. Calm down, take a stress pill. Directors are just human beings who have been giving lots of money to tell a story. Really not worth getting into a lather about.
