Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will be farting on the multiplexes come May 20. Personally I stopped caring about this franchise and Captain Jack Sparrow midway through the over-stuffed At World’s End, but I certainly won’t begrudge those looking forward to this forth installment their chance to catch a quick glimpse of Cap’n Jack mincing about while Barbosa scowls at him.
Feast!

“Pre cursed”?
And only just now did I realize that this is a prequel. Guess that’s a pretty telling example of just how interested in this movie I am. At this point, I find even the Sparrow character obnoxiously grating
I just removed my “pre-cursed” line. Just remembered that P4 being a prequel was an early rumor.
Oh, alright!
I don’t think this is a prequel. That wouldn’t make any sense. First, you would already know that neither Jack nor Barbossa is going to get eternal youth from the fountain, obviously. Second, because Barbossa is in league with the Brits now. That doesn’t seem like something he came from. Also, it is said in another trailer that Blackbeard stole the Black Pearl from Jack. I don’t have the clearest picture of the first film, but I think that would contradict something.
Also, IMDB says it’s a sequel.
Anyway, this clip failed to excite me. It reminded me of what I didn’t like about the second two films. It seems like the same overly contrived set piece that made me roll my eyes at Dead Man’s Chest. It didn’t feel very well put together. So I guess if I was on the fence before, I have just fallen from it onto the side where the grass is not so green.
Correct. It is a sequel, not a prequel.
I thought the first one was great. The others were fun, but not as good. I’ll probably see the new one at some point, and I’ll probably enjoy it.
