When it was announced last year that Hugh Jackman had signed onto a futuristic Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots kind of flick titled Real Steel, I’m sure more than a few eyebrows were raised. Mine included. Now that the first trailer for it is out over at yahoo! Movies, it’s very Million Dollar Baby / The Fighter / Cinderella Man / Rocky / every other kind of boxing movie meets Transformers. But it looks interesting. The synopsis, via Wikipedia: In the near future, robots have replaced humans in boxing. Charlie Kenton (Jackman) loses a chance to become a boxing champion when robots take over, and he becomes a small-time promoter. When he has difficulty making a living, he reluctantly teams up with his son Max (Goyo) to build a robot that can contend for the championship. Evangeline Lilly, Dakota Goyo, Anthony Mackie and Kevin Durand co-star. Real Steel will be out on October 7th.

Is this movie rated PG or something?
It is my understanding that this is very much a kid’s movie, yes.
ugh…….
I can’t be cynical about this. If it had come out when I was 9, it’d be my favorite movie. As it is, I’ll enjoy some good Robot on Robot violence.
This movie is gonna make so much money it’s sick. It looks great!!!
Looks like Small Soldiers. With bigger robots/chaoking hazard happy meal toys.

Nice Superman punch right at the end there.
Robot v. robot action where you can actually see what’s happening. Genius!
well, you’re right… the budget on this film looks like it’s about a million dollars, flat.
