The actress who plays Carrie in the upcoming remake will determine its success. There’s no too ways about it. We have to buy this girl’s trauma, sympathize with her plight and be on her side by the end- otherwise there is nothing.
Which is why it’s scary to even think of Megan Fox in the role. But according to Movieweb, Fox is trying her best to get into it. According to a close source-
“Megan is a huge fan of the original and would love the chance to play the lead. She’s 25 now, but she’s sure she could still do justice to teenage Carrie. She’s told her people to make it happen.”
She’s apparently trying to get some real acting roles, but the problem is that she’s never shown that she can act. Not a bit.
Fox’s age is a cheap shot in this headline, of course. Sissy Spacek was actually older (26 or 27) when Carrie was made, but then of course, she looked the part. A shy, mousy girl is needed for this role, and Fox is absolutely wrong for it. Can’t think of too many premenstrual girls with surgically enhanced boobs.
Of course, there’s no real reason for the remake to exist in the first place. Even Stephen King thinks the remake is pointless, as he wrote in Entertainment Weekly recently.
“I’ve heard rumblings about a Carrie remake, as I have about The Stand and It. Who knows if it will happen? The real question is why, when the original was so good? I mean, not Casablanca, or anything, but a really good horror-suspense film, much better than the book. Piper Laurie really got her teeth into the bad-mom thing. Although Lindsay Lohan as Carrie White… hmmm. It would certainly be fun to cast. I guess I could get behind it if they turned the project over to one of the Davids: Lynch or Cronenberg.”

Leaving aside that she’s a terrible actress and too old, in a high school SHE would be the type of girl bullying Carrie.
Agree with McGreedy. Fox would be perfect for the bully chick who takes a fire hose to the cooch.
The way she’s going with the surgery though…she’s starting to look like the Porn version of herself – or Odette Yustman.
I’d take King’s comments more seriously if he wasn’t the same idiot who pushed for Mick Garris to remake The Shining because that silly Mr Kubrick got it wrong.
Because Fat Tom, I’m sure you know what it likes to spend vast amounts of time creating something, only for someone else to adapt it and not keep to the source materials tone and theme. Not to say I don’t like Kubricks, because I do love it… I’m just saying, you don’t know what it’s like to see it from Kings perspective.
King picked the one movie based on his books that can legitimately be called a work of cinematic genius and got a sandy vagina because Kubrick improved it by cutting out the bullshit. Given the sheer number of truly fucking terrible Stephen King movies out there, the fact that it was The Shining he wanted remade says a lot about his ego and/or quality control.
At least King is honest. I used to have a problem with his objections to Kubrick’s movie, and certainly it indicates that his taste is questionable, but I can’t imagine many authors who would say that movie versions of their novels are better than their own writing.
My wife loves Megan Fox. I think it has something to do with her being married to Brian Austin Green. Anyway, she’ll see anything Megan Fox does. But as a teenager? I can’t really see it. Maybe if they translated Carrie to college and washed off the makeup, but Fox is still too attractive.
As for her supposed plastic surgery, she definitely seems to have had some boob work done, but I actually can’t see the supposed nose job; her nose looks the same in “before” and “after” shots. Really, she could just stand to dye her hair a lot less…
I agree with King on one thing: A David Lynch or David Cronenberg directed Carrie would kick ass. Hell lets throw in David Fincher.
