Deadline is reporting that Sony has begun development on a sequel to Salt. Angelina Jolie will be reprising her role as the CIA agent who spent the last movie on the run after being outed as a Russian spy.
Salt somehow managed to gross nearly 120 million bucks domestically and 300 million worldwide, making this inexplicably a franchise. Like OMC might say- how bizarre. How bizarre.
None other than Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium, Ultraviolet, Sphere) is writing the film right now. Much prefer a sequel to Wanted, because as vile as that comic is, the movie was fun. I’ve never heard anyone say anything about Salt either way, probably because it was so bland.
Put aside a few hours of your day and read Nick’s exhausting review of the original film while you prepare for even more Salt.

The ONLY reason I took any notice of Salt was that it filmed around the corner from my house as the first film to be shot at the new Grumman studios. Otherwise it would’ve completely slipped under my radar.
Worst movie of 2010.
Nick’s review: I feel like a nose.
Salt didn’t even had an ending. It just stopped. It felt less like an open ending for a sequel and more like they just ran out of time and/or money to give an actual ending.
Even more than that, the entire film felt like a decent prequel novel to a far more interesting movie. Here’s hoping the sequel isn’t as middle-of-the-road as the first one.
