No sooner than I complete an extensive, detailed explanation of exactly why Happy Madison’s Zookeeper is a great big ole pile of shit then they release a trailer for what could be Sandler’s coup de grace on cinema itself.
There simply are not words for how bad this looks, and how much Happy Madison just. needs. to. stop.
Why is it after Tropic Thunder and Funny People that studios are in such a competition to the movie that most look like the fake movies other movies use to make fun of bad movies?!
If you see this, you are worthless and I hate you.
The goddamn thing…
Lament this mark against humanity with me on twitter, in a comment, or across the boards.

I think that trailer made me sterile.
It looks terrible, but it’s gonna make a bazillion dollars at the B.O.
Totally agree about real movies being scarily similar to the in-joke ‘movies’ in other films.
Exhibit A: Mr. Popper’s Penguins.
Between this and the trailer for Bucky Larson, Happy Madison can now be classified as threats to society. Like Al-Qaeda.
I’m sure Sandler and Lennon/Garrant and maybe even Kevin James probably see these kinds of movies as a golden goose of some kind, I can’t think anybody 100% believes this is great, even the studios
They probably just come out of some kind of sprawling formula for mainstream comedy
I can’t even blame them anymore, making money is awesome
The only good thing about this movie is that ELO gets a paycheck. Love those guys.
Looks like the hope of a new leaf for Sandler post-Funny People was ill-founded. This seems so much like one of those AWESOME-O pitches for him made real it’s hard to believe.
I was looking at the cast list to the right of the media player as the trailer was beginning and I thought to myself, “Katie Holmes is the only female listed, so who’s playing Jill?”
And then the trailer answered. Goddamnit.
I was watching a Charlie Rose interview with Sandler on the Funny People Blu where he says that he is hesitant to make R-rated comedies because of his children. He doesn’t want them to grow up and see him being raunchy and disgusting in his movies and think their father was kind of a weird dude I guess, but that logical is obviously fucking retarded. He just wants his kids to grow up and think he was a terrible comedian instead? As if Sandler’s kids are gonna be disturbed by R-rated comedy once they’re past the age of fourteen anyway.
Oh, man, that was bad. Katie Holmes not being the worst thing about a film trailer is pretty sad indeed.
Funny People was, for me, great. Loved it. Everything Sandler has done since has been trash.
Isn’t Al Pacino in this?
To me that Jet Ski scene was pretty funny. Reminds me of movies like Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son, while the whole movie may not have been funny, it had one of the most hilarious scenes of all time I thought, which was while that absolutely random singing number is going on in the dining hall, Big Momma starts dancing on the table, and just out of nowhere falls and breaks it. I thought that was pretty hilarious.
Dead on in with the analysis of this trailer looking like a bad “in-joke” trailer from another movie. This honestly looks like a deleted scene from Funny People.
I’ll say this for it: it was funnier than the Tree of Life trailer.
Why are we even discussing this shitbomb?
This trailer has set a person record for me in terms of the time I spent “waiting for the fake movie part of the trailer to end.” Part of me still doesn’t believe it’s real. However, if Sandler plays both parts, that keeps costs down (so nice return for sure). What really boggles the mind is why Tom Cruise would let Katie Holmes be in this, unless he wants to ensure she stays as low as possible on the Hollywood power meter (can’t afford another Kidman slipup). This whole thing is truly bizarre, and a bit depressing as well, Billy Madison, The Waterboy and especially The Wedding Singer are a lot of fun.
