Another day, another glimpse of our short and sturdy explorers. Today’s dwarves are John Callen as Oin and Peter Hambleton as Gloin, and they appear courtesy of Yahoo! Movies.
Die hard Tolkien fans will probably get a bigger thrill out of this than yesterday’s, since Gloin is the father of our old friend, Gimli. And they look alike! Well, except Gloin lacks Gimli’s (in the apt description of CHUD reader spicehead) melted candle face.
I wonder how long I’m going to have to wait to see Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield. Armitage is a very handsome guy, and if that shines through the beard, the extra bit of nose, and the facial crags…well, I’m going to be disturbed.

I believe Gloin is actually Gimli’s father.
I actually think they are to clean and well dressed. After all, they were fugitives trying to get by. If they start out like this at Bilbo’s party, I hope they get a lot grimier and worn during the trip. And have we seen Bombur yet? How fat are they making him?
Anyway- I can’t wait for these films. I’m glad it’s being split (and hopefully there will be a long extended edition).
Cripes, I couldn’t even keep Merry and Pippen straight. These guys are gonna be as easy for me to tell apart as M.U.S.C.L.E. Things. Yeah, I’m old.
