Deadline is reporting that David S. Goyer is getting a crack at the Godzilla reboot script for Legendary Pictures. Goyer really has managed to parlay his modest talent into having the career every geek wishes they could have. It’s like he was chosen by the Geek Gods to be the one lysping dorkus to reap all the riches Hollywood has to offer. Good for him.
If you read that above paragraph as being rife with seething jealousy, you read it correctly.
Now that Man of Steel is underway, this looks to be Goyer’s next gig. I’m assuming that the military fighting Godzilla will be loaded to the nines with fetishistic weaponry, as that is Goyer’s calling card.

Sebastian OB, I just wonder…When, this new Godzilla will…ROAR, onto the silver screen? Just keep Goyer from the…Director’s Chair, and The Big G, should be fine! While that happens, keep…Roland Emmerich away as well!
I agree with you on both counts, Fleed. No word on a release date, I would assume summer 2013 is what they’re shooting for.
As long as it LOOKS like Godzilla, i’ll be happy
Hell no…it needs to look AND act like Godzilla. The Big G can’t be distracted by a pile of fish!
Sebastian OB, I want some of the…Kookier elements of the series as well. Tiny Twins, Aliens, Mad Scientists, etc.
Bring back Mothra! Bring back the Smog Monster!
Bring back Mathew Broderick!
I wouldn’t hold out too much hope for that.
JLHess, Sure, Only if Godzilla…Steps on him!
Is Duke Fleed available for parties? I love that guy! No, really… the man is a ROCK!
What about going the other way and going back to the roots of Godzilla being made for a Japanese audience that was less than ten years removed from making out with the Enola Gay (their 9/11?) I guess I just want a Godzilla movie for adults as opposed to mini twins and three headed robot dopplegangers (Biolantte was cool however). If Godzilla is your most interesting character in a movie, then your actors are shit. I want some human drama in addition to a one two punch of Godzilla attacking Japan and California in the same film!
Sigh. Maybe Goyer will help find Jean Reno another part he’s too good for.
QuintProQuo, Thank you for the…kind words.
If “modest talent” equals fucking writing Batman Begins, I wish I had some modest talent.
