I’m starting to run out of catchy titles for all these dwarven head shots. But that’s ok, because if my Hobbit knowledge is correct, Balin and Dwalin are the last of the horde. The only one we’ve got left is Thorin Oakenshield, and he’s going to get a photo all his own. (And I’m eagerly waiting for it. I need to know if they’ve buried Richard Armitage’s hotness, or if they’ll let it breathe free.)
The latest Hobbit photo comes from TIME, and stars Ken Stott as Balin and Graham McTavish as Dwalin. McTavish has the fortune of being the only bald dwarf in the company. He’s sporting his natural look, which is infinitely better than slapping a wig on him.
There’s not too much to say about these guys, but hey, at least you know you’ve got Old School Dwarves in the merry band.

Balin looks a little old for the drawf who later leads a colony back to Moria some years before Frodo gets there. I like his curled up shoes. And it’s cool that each one had a distinctive look. When I first thought about a Hobbit film I was afraid they would all look a lot alike except for their ages and colour of hoods (and Bombur being fat)
Oh, and I really can’t wait to see them invade Bag-End and Bilbo muttering to himself about not expecting them- and then not expecting them to keep coming like that!
Balin looks like a great Klingon war lord. Dwalin looks like Father Christmas.
Oh- wait a second, Elisabeth! Is it Balin’s bald head or Dwalin’s? The title says one, the article says the other.
It’s Dwalin. Sorry. Dwarf dyslexia got the better of me as I was typing it!
Thanks. That also clears up my issue of Balin being incredibly ancient when he goes to Moria later.
