ComicBookMovie has three better-quality images from the upcoming sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, which will be appearing in the upcoming issue of Empire Magazine. The synopsis: It has been several years since making a deal with the Devil and Johnny Blaze (Nicolas Cage), living in self-imposed isolation, finds himself as the only person who can help save 10-year-old Danny – and ultimately the world – thanks to his unwanted and uncontrollable power – his ability to transform into the hell-on-wheels monster known as The Ghost Rider.
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance co-stars Ciaran Hinds, Idris Elba, Christopher Lambert (yay!), Johnny Whitworth, Violante Placido and Fergus Riordan and opens on February 22, 2012. Click the images below to enlarge.

OOOF! That top image is pretty bad looking. Not badass. Just… bad.
Love the new, less ridiculous GR design, love Cage’s more believable hair line, love Elba, love Neveldine/Taylor.
That said, I fucking loathe the first GR, so, we’ll see how this one turn out.
Ciaran Hinds, Idris Elba, Christopher Lambert. Shit, that’s the kind of cast an that’ll get me see a fucking movie.
I liked the first one up until the Cage combusted a gay skeleton then fuck that movie.
The cast and Directors give me a lot of good will toward this attemp though . . .
Thy’re slagging a proper Judge Dredd and this charred-thing-with-fake-Nick-Cage-hair gets a pass?
Is “Danny” Johnny Blaze’s successor (and brother in the comics), Danny Ketch?
I kinda dug the first Ghost rider. I know I know lame, but it clicked for me on some level. This does show promise, I liked what Nic did in Drive Angry and can only hope it’s as bat sh!t as that one, plus the directors of Crank can do no wrong (yes this includes Gamer)
Yeah, I like the more toned-down, less CGI GR look, but whole mentality behind the movie is wrong. Rather than a save the world from some supernatural menace bullshit thing, it should be a BIKER FLICK! It would work so much better as a character-driven 70’s style biker flick with bad-ass bike stunts. And tits.
I am pretty much prepared to follow Idris Elba to the ends of the Earth. So I guess I’m gonna be seeing this.
Liked the first Ghost Rider film. Like GR’s new look as shown in the first pic. Have a feeling I’ll like this new film. When you’re easily pleased (as I am), life is a bed of roses.
David Oliver, With…CAGEy Nic, BLAZEing a trail as Johnny The Ghost Rider, and Neveldine/Taylor directing there is not even a…Ghost of a chance, that I will not be a…Rider on this train of…Awesome!
Comic movies succeed when they get to the heart of the character, Blade was horror action, Dark Knight was a crime/psychological thriller, Spiderman is a coming of age story, etc. Ghost Rider is as far from your typical capes and tights heroism as you can find in mainstream hero books. Ghost Rider needs to be a gritty revenge horror flick. Imagine if they handled it like Hellraiser (maybe tone down the gore and sex but keep all the darkness and menace) with Ghostrider in the Pinhead role, hunting down the evil Uncle Franks of the world. Maybe a renegade group of murdering raping bikers or something. Bottom line, if you want to make a successful GR movie, you make it scary, you make it dark, and you make it intense.
Who on God’s Green Earth asked for this?
Rephrase that slightly and you have the perfect tagline for the box cover when this ends up in the Wal-Mart triple feature bargain bin.
The studio folk, Dahlia, THATS who!!! This will shit the bed, and Cage will further drift into DTV territory. A shame all around.
First GR wasn’t as bad as everyone said. It had some really bad bits (the jelly beans?) and the end was a fizzer, but ultimately it was a flaming skeleton on a flaming motorbike doing exactly what it said on the tin. That top picture looks something out of the Army of Darkness II. Like stop motion goodness!
Neveldine/Taylor, directing a…Ghost Rider film, will be…Awe-Inspiring! Cirian Hinds, will have a…Devil of a time, as the…SATANick one himself! Ghost Rider will be…CRANKed to 10, and race to box office glory! I predict a…MARVELous opening weekend, with box office…PRESIDENTial in size and scope!
