Courtesy of Yahoo, the first trailer for Lucasfilm’s Red Tails, about the Tuskegee airmen (African-American pilots during WWII) comes your way. It looks alright, I suppose. Bryan Cranston continues to be in everything ever, which is great and welcome. Cuba Gooding, Jr. is at least doing something other than direct-to-video fare. Terrence Howard makes me smile, and beyond that the rest of the cast of the men themselves seem to be mostly lesser-known actors. The flying scenes actually look pretty good, too.

I’m fine with Terrence Howard as an actor, but whenever he’s in some command position – I dunno, his voice just doesn’t have presence. Good for Cuba, though, Radio gotta eat!
That said, I wonder if there will be one scene where a white bomber pilot tells the black pilots they shouldn’t be flying (in a racist fashion, of course), then another scene later where the same white bomber pilot is saved by the black fighter pilots and apologizes/thanks them. Gee, I wonder…
Is this one of those smaller experimental films Lucas inded to make after the Star Wars prequels?
Believe it or not, he’s been trying to get this off the ground (pun intended!) since the late 80s! He even had surviving members of the Tuskegee Airmen to the Skywalker Ranch.
You know how I know you’re a Lucas Film? Your footage looks awesome, but your dialog sounds like it was written by a 7th grader.
…but the aeronautical technology back in the 80’s wasn’t adavanced enough to make the film I’ll bet.
Lucas has never had a problem with bringing kick ass aerial combat.
