It looks like Warner Bros declared it DC Week, but forgot to tell us. Hot on the heels (literally … she is hot and on a bike) of our first official Superman photo rides our first official Catwoman photo.
The photo appeared quietly and without fanfare on TheDarkKnightRises.com, probably to keep ahead of all those set leaks. After those Bane photos (and the bad buzz therein), Warner Bros must be eager to get this whole publicity machine back under control.
I do think they could have chosen a flashier picture to do it, though. Your first thought has to be “That’s…Catwoman?” I know Christopher Nolan was keen to stress that it was Selina Kyle, not Catwoman, and I’m sure many out there will take this as proof she’s going to be re-imagined into something different. That could be. I hope that’s the case, I guess, because this is a pretty uninspiring anything. She could be Batgirl. She could be a DA with a leather and tech fetish. Oh, and perfect lipstick. Anne Hathaway must have it written into her contract that she only wears the freshest, dewiest reds. (Every action heroine worth her salt knows you only wear a nude or pink into combat. Red runs too badly, and requires too much upkeep.)
I’m not trying to be snarky. Really. I just wanted the first look at Catwoman to be really, really kick-ass and exciting. I still remember the first official image of the Joker. That screamed intrigue, excitement and fresh character interpretation. This could be an action shot from any thriller.
I do wish I had the bike, though. The Batpod is sexy.

The reaction to Bane was negative? I quite liked it. Unsure on this though, need to see context.
It does seem like a lot of people have got battech in this flick though. Bane has his tumblers, Selina has her batpod, clearly it’s not too difficult finding out where he got those wonderful toys now.
Nolan’s remaking Ultraviolet. It’s the only answer that makes sense.
Elisabeth Rappe, While no where near as…PURRfect as either…Julie Newmar, or Michelle Pfeiffer, Hathaway should be fine. Maybe, Bruce Wayne sold some of his old tech on…E-Bay, to rebuild Wayne Manor!
If nothing else, it’ll allow someone to sell toys from the same old plastic molds this Christmas.
Yikes.
Hahahaha. Sorry. But that looks seriously lame. The goggles, the bike, wtf? She looks like a spoilt teenage brat. If this film was being made by anyone other than Nolan, I’d have major concerns.
I know you shouldn’t look too much into one image, but its kinda hard not to in this case. There’s all sorts of wrong things going on here I don’t even know where to begin.
Definitely not what I would have imagined, but I’ll just put my faith in Nolan for now. It does look like she’s wearing an outfit made from neoprene laptop cases though
How about starting with the fact she’s wearing a virtuaboy?
“the goggles…they do nothing!!”
Selena/Catwoman is a thief. Maybe she went Gone is Sixty Seconds on the Bat-Garage and split the haul with her gang.
No ears on Not-Catwoman is bold. As bold as casting Arnold Shwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze? As bold as a Spider-Man dance sequence?
“Bwahhaha, I am the supervillian known as: All Comic Book Franchises After Part Two…Meet thy DOOM!”
Are you sure that’s a pair of goggles and not just her ginormous eyebrow?
Honestly, she looks fine to me.
