Just out of frame: The Cowering form of Mark Steven Johnson.
I’m not going to be very measured about this– the new Ghost Rider trailer is fucking great. It promises madness, anarchic glee, and an actual understanding of how to make a flaming-skull man look cool, and I couldn’t be more excited for it.

The combination of one of Marvel’s craziest heroes, the eccentricity of Nic Cage, and Neveldine+Taylor seems to have resulted in something that, at least from the cut of the trailer, looks to be the best kind of Ghost Rider film you can make… one entirely ready to revel in the shlocky goodness.
Now this could naturally turn out to be an aggressively stupid, CGI smear that doesn’t remarkably improve on the first, but I’m now guaranteed to give it the time of day to find out. I’m an unabashed Crank fan, so here’s hoping that’s the manic energy that’s been captured.
Some things I really liked?
• A demonic BAGGER 288 Cameo! (or a machine very much like it). I believe this is the result of the Riders new ability to turn any vehicle he uses into a machine of Hell. I’m into it.
FEED ME MOUNTAINS!
• The look of Ghost Rider is more weathered and dirty- it really works.
I love the popping bubbles of molten leather.
• Idris Elba!
Yep.
• Cage will be able to fully commit to the madness he only hinted at in the first film.
Mmmhmm.

Renn Brown, The Trailer to…Ghost Rider 2, looks…Awe-Inspiring, and will easilly out…Crank the original! Neveldine/Taylor, and Nic Cage, together should produce a…Hell of a film, with much…SPIRITed Vengeance!
I’m just glad that it’s being released under the Marvel Knights label. Gives me hope that this may be something closer to Punisher: War Zone, a wonderfully over-the-top scholcky actionfest, than the limp, insipid and incompetent excuses for superhero films that Mark Steven Johnson made.
Wonder if they’re going to have Mike Patton back for the soundtrack. His work on C2 was amazing. This looks bad-ass.
Mike Patton’s involvement would make this the must-see movie of the year for me.

As one of the few people who loved the first one, I’m all over this.
The “urban southwest” setting of the original and its visual style felt far more true to the source material than anything I see in this trailer. That having been said? This still looks like a damn good time, and it sure seems like Johnny Blaze will still be a wacky character thanks to Cage if that last line is any indication. Count me in.
Please tell me they’ve somehow managed to work Aaron’s machine-gunning nurses and ninja nuns into this one…

Yeah, this looks like it’s worth watching, unlike the first one. Random thought/question: Did GHOST RIDER land MSJ in director jail? One can hope.
Mark Steven Johnson has worked heavily since Ghost Rider. So no, he avoided Movie Jail.
I can’t believe that I can’t wait to see this. Also, I hope he actually gets the chance to piss flame on someone.

Now this is how it’s done, son. I also love that this is part of the Marvel Knights imprint. So was Punisher: War Zone, and that movie was awesome with a capital A.
Actually, all he’s done is a shitty Kristen Bell rom-com.
I wouldn’t be upset if a future MK movie borrowed those flaming skull assets for a Scorpion treatment.

Exactly what I was thinking! So glad to see the Knights logo back, thought it would be gone since Punisher bombed! This movie looks fucking nuts and I can’t wait!
