Despite various sources changing history, including the actual press notes for Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, it is I who brought one Troy Nixey to Guillermo del Toro’s attention when I showed him Latchkey’s Lament. Troy’s short film, which took him ages to make (and with no shortage of people like myself begging and bothering during that time) is nothing short of visionary and special. One thing led to another, and now this weekend you can watch how Troy and Guillermo’s sensibilities marry into a cocktail of little monsters, chipped teeth, and one seriously dysfunctional family. But for now, perhaps it’s time to revisit what got it all started…

Thanks for dropping both halves here. I saw this quite some time ago on Youtube and forwarded it on to some friends, but have many now who might not have seen it. I’ll gladly forward it on again.
