Having not seen a trailer or read much about the film, I didn’t walk into a screening of Warrior expecting to see one of the best films of the year but lo and behold, that’s just what I saw. Now you can see it on a special sneak preview night this Sunday at 7:00pm, foreshadowing the film’s wide release on September 9th.
Boasting excellent performances from Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton, and Nick Nolte (who is certainly on the rise again), it also manages to take the traditional boxing movie structure and do something fresh and interesting with it, all while boasting such great filmmaking that it earns every moment of drama in the ring (or cage, as it were). The addition of a new, popular style of fighting to the old mold is another strong choice, and it’s to Gavin O’Connor’s credit that he finds cinema in a style of fighting that notoriously collapses into two dudes wrapped around each other in a ball almost every fight.
So with all of this said, I think it’s pretty clear that I would encourage you to see Warrior at first opportunity. To do so this Sunday, all you have to do is trot over to the official site’s webpage and grab yourself some tickets…
Do so. If you like good movies, you won’t regret it. And hell, you can get a little taste of Tom Hardy in beefy destruction mode, like a Bane sneak preview…
Think you’ll hit this up? Let us know on twitter, in the comments, or at the boards.

I’m a huge MMA fan and have free passes to this tomorrow. Looking forward to it.
I also have passes to this tomorrow. I’ve convinced my wife to come and see it with me. For some reason, this has been one of my most anticipated movies in the past few months. I’ve been hearing that it’s completely incredible.
