I never feel like these "getting directed" shots count, hence the "ish."
A couple of new high-resolution shots have hit the web from The Avengers, and it’s amazing how a legitimate camera with the proper settings, composition, and post-processing suddenly makes the costumes look so much better. Wild how that works, eh?
Take a look, and thanks to SuperHeroHype.

"Been waiting to take this motherfuckin' shot for 10 motherfuckin' years!"

Oh hey look, ScarJo looking dispassionate and uninvested as her Marvel character...

"Not enough guns on these shelves."

"Thor, are you dick-handed in the science room again?"

"You guys aren't... imprisoning me in a big floating plastic box, are you?"

BAFFLED! CONCERNED!

I agree with you, Renn. I like the Joss Whedon shot, but it definitely doesn’t count as an actual screen grab (unless there’s going to be an unexpected, meta-style cameo in the film, that is… )
I also think Cap’s new outfit is a little cartoonish (what was wrong with the old one, anyway?), but it looks a lot better in the bottom pic, where it’s all dusty and beat-up and whatnot…
Renn Brown, All…7, shots of the…Assembled Avengers Are…MARVELously Magnificient! The Avengers will truly be the Superhero film to beat in 2012! The Dark Knight Rises, will…Fall under the Awesome Powers of The…Earth’s Mightiest Heroes!
What’s wrong with cartoonish, in this context?
I think they will play up Captain A’s ‘squareness’ in contrast to the more worldly characters. Downey/Stark looks like he is afraid of getting virgin germs from “Cap”.
Whedon is doing an admirable job of keeping his eyes on ScarJo’s face in that picture.
Actually ScarJo looks like she’s just given, or is about to give, out an ass-whooping. Bruce Lee style. Or it’s interpretive dance. Could go either way…
still not sold on the new helmet for Cap, and i also noticed he’s not wearing it in either of those costume shots, so perhaps he won’t be wearing it enough to properly nitpick
