In a move that surprises no one, AMC is announcing plans for a third season of smash hit cable drama The Walking Dead. For those of us who don’t spend all of our time looking to hate the show, this is great news. Actually, it’s good news for the show’s detractors as well as this will provide them with more opportunities to nitpick zombie survival “rules”, complain that “not enough happens” from episode to episode, and demand that every character in the ensemble show has a complete 90 minute character arc in the span of 40 minutes each and every week.
OK, OK, I can admit the show has a few kinks to work out. But hey, at least we now know T-Dog has a real, non embarrassing name! (It’s Theodore!)

I think alot of people moan about the lack of action for the fact that the show is populated with boring fuckers. I dont see anyone moaning about lack of action in shows like Boardwalk or the wire or even Battlestar, as its the characters that keep you coming back, anf the walking dead has none.
The end of the world should bring out the best and worst in people, not the most boring

As a person who has read the comic from day one I don’t love the show, but, like the comic I keep buying and watching. The cliffhanger endings have gotten really boring in the comic and they are really boring in the show too. Just tell a good story. The show has not gotten away from what makes the comic so bad and that is people just talking to talk, getting a huge piece of information out like exposition robots. The comic has never gotten to the point of visual storytelling it should have reached by now and is mired in melodrama.
The blue meth Breaking Bad easter egg in the show was cool.
Wait I just figured it out. The show needs a really geeky guy that speaks nothing but pop culture quotes a la Hurley and the show would be perfect.
All that being said I will watch the show until it is over. I just can’t help myself. I will try to keep my complaining to a minimum.
So this thing is a huge success for AMC, yet they cut the budget to its knees, fired Darabont, and then decided to renew it? Its numbers are triple that of their other original programs. If the budget cuts undermine a certain “set” that happens in the comic, I will be disappointed.
