Empire has definitely scared themselves up some eyeballs by landing the first substantive post-principle photography TDKR piece, one which includes Nolan’s revelation that the film would take place 8 years after the The Dark Knight. It was definitely a bombshell, because it’s a huge detail that for all the publicly visible shooting and prying eyes, the production has managed to keep under wraps until Nolan nonchalantly drops it in an interview!
The speculation about what this means for the hero/his villains and how Warner Brothers might exploit that unseen near-decade of Bat-history has already exploded, and has done a good job of keeping people on their toes. What other details have been successfully hidden that Nolan isn’t willing to let out of the bag yet?
Regardless, along with the alternate covers of the magazine, the piece included a batch of new stills from the film, mostly of Bane and Batman in different dramatic poses. Now they’re all available as full-quality images, rather than shitty scans, so let’s take a look…
Bane in particular looks to be rather prone to speechifyin‘ and grand gestures. In one particular shot, we can now clearly see that Bane is laying into Harvey Dent in some manner, perhaps tearing down an eight-year strong martyr image? The caption also specifies that the camo-tumblers are Bane’s “custom-built” rides. Interesting.
Of course there’s also the obligatory director’s shot, though they don’t always feature a camera this mighty…
We’re a little over two-weeks from the IMAX preview of the film, a new trailer, and the inevitably immediate internet leaks of both, so it’s not long before the hype for this film boils over into full-on frenzy. Gird your loins, as it’s going to be a looooong 8-month endurance trial to be an internet user from then till July 20th, be it because you just can’t wait for the film, or because you just can’t stand the incessant bat-related noise!

Every time I see Bane speechifyin’ now I just think of the Mutant Gang Leader in Dark Knight Returns.

I really think Nolan went way too much into the Schumaker realm with all the characters. Personally I really enjoyed the first two movies and how grounded in reality, well as much as they could be, were. Now we have 2 and counting villians, catwoman and bane, whose costumes look horrible. I think this is going to be the worst of the series and sadly its the last.
on Prometheus I have one complaint. For a prequel, the tech should never look more advanced than the original. The suits and ships look far more advanced than what was in the original movie. I think this is a huge flaw in logic and will annoy the crap out of me when i see it.
If you think about it, in the original Alien the main characters are simply space truckers on a long haul. They are not going to be equipped with the most advanced high tech vehicles, equipment, gear etc. In Prometheus however, I believe the main crew that is seen consists of basically the equivalent of NASA astronauts who are sent out to explore the furthest reaches of space, so of course they will be equipped with the most advanced high tech items available. That is how I view it anyway: semi truckers compared to astronauts.
Yeah. The crew of Prometheus represent the brightest and best on a well funded mission. The crew of the Nostromo are basically miners with shit pay and old ass gear.
So is your problem with the number of villains or the costumes? Because both of the previous films had 2 villains, not counting the mob guys…
In the original they were truckers in space. Prometheus looks to be a advanced science vessel of sorts. Truckers tend to have shittier equipment…there is no issue here.
not to be a jerk, but please shut the F up. First off, how are you unaware of the other two films. I say that because ALL of them had multiple villians. From Ra’s, Falcone, and Scarecrow in the first film, to the Joker, Maroni, the Chinese Banker and Two Face. Also, Catwoman has not been confirmed to be a villian, and considering all leaked pics and interviews tend to lean her towards Batman’s ally. Please, do some reading, and please stop posting untill you do so.

Nah, that is just fanwank. I agree that it is off putting to have tech in a movie that is set before an existing film, and no, I don’t believe that they give the “better tech” to a different team. C’mon guys. That being said, I can see WHY they would do that. You can just right it off as “this is what it would have look like if WE had the technology when Alien was made”.
Have you even seen Alien? The Nostromo is a dilapidated hunk of shit. Leaky pipes, coolant puddles everywhere, the landing craft busts on impact. They even have to build a custom-made motion detector out of cardboard and sticky tape for crissakes. If Ridley Scott wanted the Nostromo to be shiny and brand new with impressive tech HE WOULD HAVE DONE IT (even on the film’s limited budget).

Why the heck wouldn’t the well funded crew of the Prometheus, who are sent in to space for the purpose of deep space scientific discovery, have better tech all around. I guess some people always have to pick something apart about a movie preview.
@Nick. relax dude its just a movie bro. The point i was making was that the villians in previous movies werent so comic book like, as in Schumakers visions. The joker truly was a madman with a painted face and all the other villians had a huge dose of realism. Bane and catwoman look horrible and feel there is going to be a dip into the campy with this movie. Also the batcopter looks lame with or without CGI enhancements. SO chill NICK and remember its just a movie and take less steriods might help
On the alien issue, I can see that to a point but still the tech looks on par with Aliens which was 57 years later. So this is more of Ridley wanting it to look awesome more than being confined to the timeline. Reading the spoilers on AICN, I am worried this movie is going to be a mess. protoforms and star beasts lol.
Fanwank lol. totally. Nowhere has it been released that Team Prometheus is the most funded and most deserved of the top tech. You are drawing lines where there are no dots to connect. The truth is, the movie would totally bomb if he tried to replicate the clunky suits and the boxy ships that were in the storylines universe at the time. No one wants to see out dated effects, so Ridley made everything nice and sparkly with great space suits and ships. truth is what truth is.
FYI the **spoilers** on AICN (ha! You actually visit that site??!) were discredited. They were dreamt up by an imdb user.
We know for certain Team Prometheus are on a mission to EXPLORE a possible alien civilization. They are not HAULING mineral ore from one end of space to another. If a team were sent to explore the unknown gee wouldn’t it be a good idea to give them the best tech available? Gee wouldn’t it be a good idea to give them state of the art scientific instruments because, y’know, they could make contact with an alien intelligence. Y’know they just might need it. Just a thought. Geez.
still stretching that line. Its plain and simple a budget thing. Alien didnt have it and Prometheus does.
