Two pictures have surfaced of Elijah Wood as “Frank” in the Franck Kalfoun directed, Alexandre Aja produced remake of Maniac. I brought the news a few weeks ago of Wood’s casting, and I wasn’t all that happy, but remained optimistic. From these pictures, he has the right psychotic look. It’s a step in the right direction. Even looks like he’s got some facial hair.
Still, I’m waiting for a still shot of him wearing ladies glasses and nailing a scalp into a mannequin, or laying in a bed next to a mannequin and spooning with it. Then I’ll be almost happy.

This is what happens when the sunshine of the eternal mind gets REALLY spotless.
I’d like to see someone like Jason Bateman, Jack Black or Danny Houston play the role that Tom Savini had in the original.
This remake needs to be as far from mediocre as possible. Boring will not do here.
Aside from Mirrors, I haven’t been disappointed by anything that Aja has been associated with. I have faith in him.
That said, I’d love to see Jason Bateman as a sleazy “Disco Boy”.
