Creative Differences have claimed another victim. Patty Jenkins, formerly of Monster, has stepped away from the helm [get it?] of Thor 2: Kickin’ Asgard. After Kenneth Branagh decided not to re-up Jenkins was an interesting continuation of the concept of hiring real filmmakers and pairing them with great crews. It’s worked for James Bond and it worked for Thor. Jenkins is no more, per The Hollywood Reporter.
You know who would be MY choice for this gig? Tony Gilroy.

nah, one fluke critically acclaimed film doesn’t categorize her as a real film maker. Her next 5 movies could be ass, then you’d be saying ”shes a hack!” etc. I just think its jumping the gun to suggest that shes a bona fide tested talent.

Drew Goddard (“The Cabin In The Woods”) was considered for “Thor 2” before Marvel settled on Patty Jenkins. Perhaps they’ll reconsider him. He’s already worked with Chris Hemsworth and he’d be able to write or at least rewrite the script.

And what’s all the “Brett Ratner road” crap? Anyone can become a Brett Ratner if they start churning out crap. You do realize that argument makes no sense whatsoever, right?
you haven’t really cleared up the meaning of real film maker as opposed to regular film maker. I understand its not much of a standard definition, but I thought it was questionable to suggest this woman who had one film under her belt (lots of film makers make critically acclaimed films, and monsters wasn’t that acclaimed, only 71% rotten tomatoes, though in my opinion it was good) could be labelled a ”REAL” film maker, as opposed to any other film maker who might be up for the job.
