ShockTillYouDrop has word, via Vin Diesel’s Facebook page, that some concept art for a jackal, one of the critters that will be seen in the upcoming Riddick, has been released. First impression? It’s okay and all, but it doesn’t look like anything that one of those prison cats from Chronicles wouldn’t snack on fairly easily. Also sorta looks like a Resident Evil zombiedog a tad bit. Anyhoo, just glad that the film, which had recently shut down due to some budgeting issues, is back up and running. The synopsis:
Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.
Karl Urban is also slated to return for at least a cameo as Vaako, and David Twohy is returning as writer / director. Personally, I’d love it if Nick Chinlund was again one of those mercs on Riddick’s neck.

as awesome cool as this all sounds like its going to be, its all for nothing without the return of the Chin.
Well, he shoulda takin’ the money.
Skittish Toombs, very skittish. Against all better judgement, I adore COR. I get a distinct Ed Wood Vibe from these “production kicked out of the warehouse they were shooting in until they came up with cash” stories. Can’t wait for this, hope they pull it off.
Same here. Riddick is total Sci-Fi B-Movie goodness.
Prison Cats? Maybe it’s all the Necromonger business liquifying my brain, but I’m drawing a blank on any cats in CoR.
And why the hell didn’t they make the see-in-the-dark eyes a Furyan trait? The girl seemed to have gone to great lengths to try and get the same ability to no avail, which suggested it was just some bullshit story he made up and that it was a genetic thing he was cagey about.
Your brain is liquified. Go watch it again.
He has to save his planet? His whole planet? All of it?
So much for Twohy’s b.s. about returning to the more focused, more intense PITCH BLACK horror/suspense. I hate to be the guy who calls it but I gotsa be that guy: the pitch sounds like a 14 yr old Dungeon and Dragon “awesome” campaign! Like, so totally!
So glad that this is happening. COR is totally nerd comfort food, which is totally what you need some days.
And yes, totally is my new favorite word.
