This is a big week for trailers, as the studios try and thrust next year’s previews in front of the glut of holiday films and awards contenders competing for eyeballs in December. Some of them, like The Hobbit for example, don’t really have to do much more than simply exist to become the hottest previews in town, which is why the announcement of the time at which the trailer will hit becomes news. That time will be tonight, at 10pm EST, 7pm PST, straight from the film’s Facebook page.
Kindly enough, the date/time announcement has come with its own little tease… another image of Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins. Have a look, and return tonight to watch and discuss our first real look at the follow up to an iconic trilogy that celebrated its tenth birthday just yesterday.

And so the wait begins…
I’m not looking forward to this, really. Just can’t get excited. There’s a reason LOTR was made first, tho’ it’s events came after the Hobbit. It was THE story. This is the appetizer.
And the best restaurants have fucking delicious appetizers.
I’m really curious about the tone of this. Light fantasy adventure (as Tolkien intended) or darker grown up fantasy (like LOTR). The trailer should give some indication.
I’m into everything about this except for Freeman. Every time I see him I get an immediate sense of being underwhelmed.
