I wish. Despite Eileen’s very gratifying article, I chose not to do any live commenting on the Golden Globes for a variety of reasons. It doesn’t seem like I missed a whole heck of a lot. In the wake of Twitter, Facebook, and so many sites doing live coverage it just seems a little much. Same goes for the Oscars. Maybe I’ll feel differently in 2013. Regardless, here’s your list of winners and a little dosage of opinion for those interested:

Nick’s Comment: I liked the movie but I personally feel that Moneyball was most deserving of the nominated films. That said, I wish I could make The Help cease to exist.

Nick’s Comment: Violently disagree. I found Hugo to be decent but hardly some transcendent film. Especially since it boasts only one solid performance. This category is actually rife with bad choices, because it sells 2011’s directorial output way short.

Nick’s Comment: Moneyball deserved it. Distilling that text into something so entertaining is incredible. Woody’s fine, but this movie isn’t some revelation.

Great list. Gotta say I agree about Horror story – heard great things, I really wanted to like it but watched first episode and haven’t hated anything that much since Tru Crap. Interestingly enough, after I heard what happened in the season finale I was almost impressed enough to go back and try and give it a second chance, but again, I hated it A LOT. THE ENTIRE TIME IT WAS ON.
You think they started Breaking Bad late just to give someone else a chance this year? I do.
I love Love LOVE that you hate Modern Family! Seriously, fuck that show! I don’t care that it has Al Bundy, and the hot telemundo chick that is EVERYWHERE NOW! It’s still got the cunthair from the Dawn Of The Dead remake, and is a show for people who are too stupid to enjoy Community. A number of my friends watch it, and like me, they are single, or recently engaged, white males, with no kids. When they rave about it, I always ask them if they’re dead inside. How else do they relate to such waterheaded dribble?
Whatever nice thoughts I had on Clooney and/or his performance in The Descendants washed away during his smug, self satisfied acceptance speech. He needs a good sex and drugs scandal to bring him down a notch or two. Every time he was on camera after that, I couldn’t help thinking about the “smug cloud” from South Park.
I also thought Alexander Payne deserved best director more than Scorsese, out of the nominated lot. I love Marty, and liked Hugo, but I think he got it more for Hugo‘s zealous preservation message than it did for any quality of work put forth. Hell, Steve McQueen wasn’t even nominated for Shame, and I thought that had some of the best directing choices of all the films I’ve seen this year.
So agree about Episodes. Made it through 4 or 5 episodes, couldn’t make it to 7. I just didn’t care.

I thought American Horror Story was real good and you shouldn’t have an opinion about something you didn’t fully experience, the show built on itsself and got brilliant by the end. Episodes would probably been funnier to those who used to watch Friends, I never did watch friends, so the show didn’t push any of my buttons.
I never saw any of the other mentioned tv shows or movies, therefore I have no opinion on them.
Just joking that we got it late. Relax!
That’s bullshit right there. I mean, if you’re following a show and it’s not doing it for you, you HAVE fully experienced it up to the point of quitting, and your opinion of it is completely valid. It would be another thing entirely if you tried hopping in after skipping 6 episodes and said “Wow, this show is fucking stupid”, because you’d have no idea what you were getting into, whether the show WAS stupid or not.
Speaking of “you shouldn’t have an opinion about something”, don’t say that ANOTHER show probably would have been better if you liked Friends, right before saying you never watched Friends. What is that opinion even based on?
I’m confused – what does friends have to do with horror story?
Was that Bossk a reference to the bounty hunter that only a nerd would know? That’s why I love this site!
