I don’t know if this movie is going to be especially good, but they seemed to have slipped a pretty epic B-action flick out of the door without much hype. Sporting an exceptionally silly premise and Guy Pearce front and center, Lockout looks to be a combination of Escape From NY, Alien, and maybe, Batman: Arkham Asylum..?
I like Guy Pearce when he’s not all stuffy and reserved, so him shoved into a Snake Plissken scenario could be fun (especially whenever Peter Stormare shows up). The effects look surprisingly effective (at least in IGN’s shitty quality player) so if the action is at all competent, we may have something here. I think the guys in our B-Action Thread may have called this right suggesting this might be a big surprise of the year.
What do you think of it?

Looks nice, but damn if that ain’t a Snake Plissken movie.
Renn Brown, Lock-Out, or MS One Maximum Security, Whatever they wish to call it looks…Awesome! With…PEARCEing Guy, and GRACEful Maggie, This could even…OverTAKE, Taken, on my expected top 10!
Fortress vibe. Just me?
This looks like it could be fun in the same completely derivative way that Doomsday was. If Lock-out can manage to be half as fun as Marshall’s Snake Plissken knock-off, I will be satisfied.
There was a rumor that the next Escape movie or one of the ideas before Escape from LA was Snake would go to space for his next escape and maybe it was this rumored idea that the creators of Lockout latched onto and ran with. Or maybe they just took the Escape from (insert city here) and Snake and replaced them with Guy Pierce and a space station prison. Whatever the case, I love me some bad movies and I’ll go and see this one.
“He’s the best there is, but is a loose cannon…” Hahaha, love that. This movie slipped under the radar, eh? Had a blast with Doomsday, and this is giving off the same fun vibes. Count me in on April 20.
“I like Guy Pearce when he’s not all stuffy and reserved..” Wuh-wuh-what? You didn’t like him in LA Confidential?!
It would be a great nod to Escape from New York if they say to guy Pearce at the beginning “We need you to go in and rescue the President’s daughter” to which Guy replies, “President of what?”
Con Air… IN SPAAAACE
