Yeesh.
To paraphrase Ricky Gervais’ one good line from the Golden Globes: Johnny Depp will wear anything Tim Burton tells him to.
is this a new Twilight movie or something?
Hey Johnny! How many people think this movie is a good idea?
“My grandmother made me be in another fucking Tim Burton movie once. Once.”
Fine by me.
Johnny’s run as the “I’m quirky and cool actor” are so over. This still makes that painfully obvious.
really, SO over. must be SO tough to be one of the yes crowd.
looks 100 times better than anything in … yes in DbAFotD … 100 times. thats just the way it is. sorry folks … !
Is DARK SHADOWS still a big thing in the U.S? I’m from the UK and I don’t remember it. I can’t see the point of using a known name like that, when THE A-TEAM (which seemed to be a better known property) didn’t do so well. Guess they’re hoping that Depp alone will sell it or something.
Winona Ryder is very pale these days.
I thought you were Duke Fleed for a second. So disappointed (nothing personal).
Oh…oh dear. Maybe he’ll just decide to go black and white at the last minute? Oh dear….
I know nothing of this… Dark Shadows, but the picture itself sucks. Depp, in that pose, looks like he’s trying to buy himself a little more time auditioning for a gothic styled “The Omen”, while every color in the spectrum vomits in the background.
Not to seem like a Tim Burton lover, but there was a similarly virulent backlash to the first photo of Heath Ledger’s Joker that leaked online. “He looks like a fuckin’ drag queen LOL,” etc.
This isn’t to say that Johnny Depp’s Barnabas will be in the same league as Ledger’s Joker (chances are he won’t even be in the same league as Val Kilmer’s Batman), but let’s not make Razzie Awards jokes QUITE yet.
Whichever number of Hollywood executives took a look at the box office returns for Alice in Wonderland and green-lit this production.
Burton/Depp is a draw. Maybe not for the crowd that hangs out here, but definitely still a draw. Depp’s last two “quirky” outings have still been profitable affairs. There’s little reason to believe that the same crowds that made Alice in Wonderland and Pirates Of the Caribbean: The Great Cash Grab hundreds of millions of dollars won’t do the same for this one.
I saw what you did there. You made it about the movie I worked on. It cuts so deep.
Johnny Depp doing his same, tired performance…Depp thinks of himself and others do as well that he is a good actor, when really he is just a ham…he tried to convince himself and others that his venture into blockbusters was not selling out, but, it is aparent it is.
I do find that picture much more palatable in black and white, although in any case Depp’s face lacks the imposing, somewhat cruel cast that Jonathan Frid has. To me, Depp still feels a bit young-ish for the role, and this picture highlights that.
What a shock – someone called “Nefilim” coming to the defense of Emo/Goth/Hot Topic kings Burton & Depp.
Edgar Allen Poe would insert a dirty raven in you.
Yes it’s a Burton and Depp joint – “restraint” is the operative word here.
Yes, Johnny Depp’s IMDb is a long list of films that film fans and fan boys hate with a passion. Full of shit much?
My first impression, looking at this picture, was that it was going to be a bio-pic of Count Von Count from Sesame Street.
I’m convinced Tim Burton has pictures of Depp having sex with a goat. “Remember Jonny, I still have those polaroids. Now I want you to look like this…”
Why does this look like shit?
Will probably be better than Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. Alot better.
What’s an alot?
My mother will see it for sure.
“Disguised as a raccoon, Cartman becomes a vigilante dubbed “The Coon”, who attempts to wipe out crime in South Park. Though Cartman tries to raise awareness about The Coon through word of mouth, nobody pays much attention to the Coon’s efforts.”
Ouch. Can’t even call it slang.
Not to be the contrarian in the group, but I think Tim Burton is an absolute genius and should never be underestimated, especially when it comes to this type of material. Then there’s the Johnny Depp factor. I mean, Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Corpse Bride, Sleepy Hollow… Sorry, but benefit of the doubt has to go to Mr. Burton.
Oh yeah. You guys got me on this one. Never seem a typo on CHUD. Oh except when I read that Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark was a good movie.
Oh also when that idot wrote “seem” instead of “seen”
So dreadfully sad on every level. It has all the looks of another (very) low budget made-for-TV movie. “Eddie Munster: Life Without Marilyn.” – Coming to Nickelodeon this Summer!
Love the Johnny Dangerously line. ONCE! LOL nice comment brundlefly
