Warner Bros. has officially unveiled the new logo for Zack Snyder’s Superman re-reboot attempt The Man of Steel. Here it be (clicking the image will take you to the film’s official Facebook page):
Looks a tad more alien than what we’re used to, but the iconography is there. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that Donner’s ’78 film was the first to interpret the symbol as not an “S” but rather a family crest for the House of El on Krypton (from which Supes was born out of). The origin of the symbol in comics has changed quite a bit, but Mark Waid’s 2004 series Superman: Birthright depicted the “S” as the Kryptonian symbol of hope.
A lot of work to justify a fucking “S”. But if I were a betting man I’d bet on the symbol’s origins representing the House of El.

Does this really qualify as a re-boot? They’re using Donner’s logic for the S, Donner’s villain of Zod, they’re doing the origin story (between the comics, cartoons, movies and 4 live-action t.v. shows, doesn’t anyone not know the origin?) just like Donner did. Does this not qualify as a remake?
It qualifies as a movie. That’s really all that matters.
I am glad we don’t have to sit through Luther as a villain again. He is a good antagonist, but we have seen enough adaptations. Superman II was my favorite of the previous franchise, so maybe there is hope, and Snyder does a decent job adapting previously done material, just not so much his own stuff.
With Zach Snyder helming? Not so much.
I thought he was ok(meaning good to disappointing), if ripping off someone else’s visual (ie dawn of the dead – movie, 300 and watchmen – comics) but atrocious when it was his own original vision (garbage like Sucker Punch and Legends of Guardian) and nothing to steal. Superman should be ok to watch, but probably on video. With the exception of the Batman franchise, Marvel is kicking DC’s ass at the movies.
I have the first appearance of Zod comic. Anyone want it?
