Filed under “Articles I WISH Were April Fools Jokes,” is this notice that the long-gestating Dumb & Dumber sequel that actually does feature all of the original team is now locked and loaded for a shoot later this year.
While promoting their latest comedic triumph The Three Stooges, The Farrelly Brothers confirmed that everyone is on board and that the film is ready to go, citing a rewatch of the original for inspiring Jim Carrey to pull the trigger.
“…we’ve always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it. Jim was busy, but he called and said, ‘We’ve got to do this thing again.’ He had just watched ‘Dumb and Dumber’ and he said, ‘This is the perfect sequel. Let’s do it.'”
They also mentioned that this will be their first sequel, and that they most certainly had nothing to do with the studio’s prequel flop. Important distinctions to make. Draw those lines in the sand baby, draw those lines.
The shoot will begin in September.

Man, bad career move for Jeff Daniels. He’s just got his own high-profile HBO show and now he decides to go back to a goofy 90s comedy?

Well, with the prequel in tow, I guess this will amount to a semi-official trilogy of sorts. (Although I doubt it’ll give THE LORD OF THE RINGS a run for its money.)
