Along with a general uptick in directorial quality, character energy, and genre crossover, Fast Five managed to rejigger its franchise by bringing in The Rock to spice up things up and make the antagonist someone worth a shit. For a while it’s been rumored that would be a new habit and that Jason Statham would be the next action name to join the roster and tear shit up on wheels. Alas, that will not be the case.
Twitch is reporting that whatever deal was being considered couldn’t be made, and Statham will be a part of neither Fast Six nor Seven, which have planned shoots in Europe.
Who else would you like to see join this world? If it can’t be the Transporter himself, surely there are other ass-kickers that could step in- toss your ideas into the comments.

I love Statham but exactly what did he have going on that would be more important than Fast movies? If he was the same character..Shoot Em Up Clive Owen gets my vote.
I’m wondering if the scheduling was going to conflict with the film he is doing with Brian De Palma in late 2012/early 2013.
I would give all of my money to Statham vs The Rock.
Charlie Sheen as the Wraith. One installment could be a slasher film.
Idris Elba – would make up for the damp squib Walker / Elba team-up Takers. In fact, how about another Takers alum, Zoe Saldana?
Kris Kristofferson as a grizzled big rig trucker. Actually the next Fast movie should focus solely on Big Rig Truckin’.
