You can relax, High Road to China is hitting Blu-ray tomorrow.
I know a few of you were on a ledge mulling oblivion but it’s time to go back inside and have a shower before getting in line to be among the first to own it. You may remember this film as being very not Raiders of the Lost Ark. You may also remember it as the Heat of its time in that it managed to take two legendary icons (in this case Wilford Brimley and Bess Armstrong) and finally allowed them to share a screen together.
It’s about time. I’m actually surprised to hear they’re skipping UMD media with this one.

Selleck, great on TV, not so great on the big screen. But, I’ll give him some bonus points for “Quigley Down Under” and “Runaway.”

This was mandatory watching on early HBO, as it was always on. I don’t know if I made it through the whole thing more than once, but it graced our TV while eating dinner at least 50 times.
I think I’d rather see Christopher Walken as Han Solo.
Same here. I remember watching this a liking it as a kid. I’ll try and catch it again.
Little known fact: High Road to China makes a great companion piece to Jacob’s Ladder and Monkeybone, both also out on blu-ray.
I remember seeing this also when i was young and I remember seeing it on HBO a lot of times and liking it! Plus Beth Armstrong was a cutie back then! cool little movie

I can’t say I ever saw this film all the way through – I tried watching it on HBO once and gave up. But, I did watch my college roommate get high, then ride his bike to pick up some Chinese food.
Selleck’s best work of all time was when he shot Ivan on Magnum P.I., “did you see the sunrise?” That was some intense television for its time.
Never seen it, but what the hell, I’ll blind buy it. It can sit next to my Mr. Baseball dvd that I proudly own.
