“Chernobyl Diaries” is an original story from Oren Peli, who first terrified audiences with his groundbreaking thriller, “Paranormal Activity.” The film follows a group of six young tourists who, looking to go off the beaten path, hire an “extreme tour” guide. Ignoring warnings, he takes them into the city of Pripyat, the former home to the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor, but a deserted town since the disaster more than 25 years ago. After a brief exploration of the abandoned city, however, the group soon finds themselves stranded, only to discover that they are not alone.

I hated the Paranormal Activity movies, but this sounds like a very cool premise. Maybe better suited to a video game than a movie, but cool. I always thought Chernobyl was a surprisingly unpicked low-hanging horror fruit.
Heh, you do have to laugh “Not alone” in Pripyat = Bumped into another film crew making a cheap horror movie/video game art team collecting reference shots.

hah, sad but true. It has lost some of its mystique in the last few years. Even that whole kidofspeed thing had Ukranians scratching their heads and only worked because the world has no idea how many people are wandering around there on a daily basis.
