To paraphrase Michael Fassbender’s character David from Prometheus:
“Big, telekinetically-gifted-and-psychologically-inclined-to-massacre-enemies things have small beginnings.”
Or in this case, appropriately downtrodden and conservative beginnings. This is not a production still, so the glasses and/or coat aren’t necessarily for the character, but, regardless, here’s your new Carrie. This thing is happening.

Somehow I don’t buy Carrie having a cell phone, even in this day and age.. her mom would be too conservative and ultra-controlling for that. Also, the dark glasses make her look rebellious, somehow, rather than timid like Original Carrie.
I may be the first person who has ever gone all Comic Book Guy over Carrie. Wow.
Yeah…”NOT a production still…” would negate your criticisms.
To be clear:
Sunglasses, cell phone—probably not part of Carrie’s wardrobe
Dress, sweater, watch, crucifix—probably part of Carrie’s wardrobe
