I’m no stranger to anime. First one I ever saw was Vampire Hunter D on TBS back around 1993 as a friday late night movie, and I was hooked. Next one I caught was The Fist Of The North Star vhs my cousin loaned me. Then eventually during my Senior year of High School, I saw Ninja Scroll. A crazy balls to the wall film with plenty of blood all over the place, monsters, and guys who can piece themselves back together.
Seeing the trailer for The Man With The Iron Fists reminds me of a live action take on Ninja Scroll by way of Mortal Kombat. I was hoping for Russell Crowe to be the villain, but what we’ve gotten is something even better. He’s a Spaghetti Western cowboy with bizarre guns and an outfit that is Clint inspired. Everyone looks to be having fun, and while there’s no monsters, there’s a guy who is a gold variant of Colossus. The gold reminding me also of Ninja Scroll. So yeah, this movie looks to be incredible fun. Even with all the CGI.

fun,fun,fun. at least it looks like it, not Kill Bill iconic, but nice ideas and an apparent heartfelt devotion to the material. Really looking forward to this

Also it seems to be a…haRRRRRRRRRRRd R! Now the question is…When does this…Punch out its theatrical competition?

The reaction shot to the eyball dislocating punch sold me…assuming it’s not an editing cheat. That and the “Putting the F-U” line. Looks fun. Silly, but fun.
I’m betting that even Dave Bautista can out act RZA.
This looks like an absurdly, awful film along the lines of the Eric Roberts-Jamie Pressley masterpiece DOA( even has the same DP)…why is anyone excited for this tired style of pastiche that has been force fed and pandered to genre fans? Did anyone not have higher expectations for a film like this? Or is an overly cartoonish excercise in low form really want film fans want? Leave me out of this, I will look for something more- something more then just being entertained…I certainly expected more from RZA
