The announcement that McCarthy was skipping the novel-adaptation route and writing his own damn movie from scratch was huge, and every bit of talent that has attached has only made it more exciting. Now we have a full trailer, and it promises a cool blue merging of urban and rural thrillers, with the expected shades of No Country For Old Men. The synopsis remains decidedly simple:

“The protagonist in The Counselor is a respected lawyer who thinks he can dip a toe in to the drug business without getting sucked down. It is a bad decision and he tries his best to survive it and get out of a desperate situation.”
