With TDKR‘s release on Blu-ray (Buy from CHUD), Warner Brothers is keenly using their Dark Knight Rises Facebook as a means to push their next superhero flick, evidenced with this new Man of Steel poster. It also puts the character into some very Nolan-esque context in my opinion. It stands to reason the military would take action when Superman reveals himself to the world. It’s also easy to assume he’d go gently, at least at first. Overall, a very simple aesthetic and I can dig the juxtaposition of a Superman in hand cuffs. Thoughts?

wow, that really makes me want to see the movie….yes, I was being sarcastic. Look, I get it – Nolan’s dour Bat-films were extremely popular, Superman Returns wasn’t, so I can see why WB would want to emulate Nolan’s approach both in film and in marketing. Time will tell if the movie ends up being dark or if that’s just the perception marketing wants but regardless this is a lame poster. It should be vibrant and exciting – HE’S BACK!!!! – not…this…
For crying out loud. First that STAR TREK INTO THE DARKNESS poster, and now this. “Watch as the military incarcerates the beloved upholder of truth, justice and the American way!”

Gotta say I’m not liking anything about the new look except the big-ass cape.
I’m pretty sure there will be a scene where you will see Superman’s ass, possibly bending prison bars. Zack Snyder enjoys showing men’s asses more than any other director, and he made sure the new suit has and over accentuated crotch and some weird looking ab inserts or maybe the suit is that tight. What I’m saying is I think the new suit is fucking disgusting and Zack Snyder is a capable hack with the best FX team in Hollywood.

Tim Kelly, As much as I enjoy Superman II, the…One weak aspect is that Zod did not do all that much after he took over the USA! Maybe this time, he asks Kal-El to surrender or he will…Nuke NYC! All he did is pick on one town, get the President to surrender, and kidnap Lois. That kind of takeover is less than…Super…Man!
first off don’t like the poster. But I do dig the themes. Superman in cuffs arrested by the govt that’s something I can get behind. I just think it looks stupid as a first look poster.
Superman – “no one cared who I was until I put on the cape.”
Soldier – “if I pull that off, will you die?”
Superman – “it would be extremely painful”
Soldier – “you’re a Kryptonian.”
Superman – “….for you!”
