*If you happen to discover some worthwhile movie news today that has nothing to do with comics or sequels, point me to it in the comments section and I will write it up. Just for you. Please. Please.
Marc Webb’s Twitter has provided no shortage of news on the Amazing Spider-Man 2 front. The latest comes in the form of the above reveal, indicating that Spider-Man friend-turned-enemy-turned-frienemy Harry Osborn will be represented by Dane DeHann in the upcoming sequel.
DeHaan, you may remember, appeared as the troubled, super-powered youth Andrew Detmer in director Josh Trank’s excellent Chronicle. Trank has since moved on to a Fantastic Four reboot at Fox, confirming there’s no such thing as comic book movies anymore. Just comic book movie reboots.
Kudos to Sony, however, as their Amazing Spider-Man 2 teaser trailer has clearly already seen the light of day:

Still haven’t seen Chronicle, but he was good in Lawless and had a nice bit role in Lincoln.
Chronicle is fantastic.
They are actually making a sequel to this most forgettable blockbuster in a generation?
You mean the forgettable blockbuster that grossed $752 million dollars this year? Yes, it’s utterly shocking that Sony would green light a sequel after that.
I’m thanking God Fox is rebooting Fantastic Four, those other movies were horrific.
Chronicle was just short of fantastic. The one thing it lacked IMO was purpose. Every found footage film has a reason why you’re watching. Primarily it’s footage.. someone found (Blair Witch?), or maybe it’s a broadcast (District 9).
Chronicle lacked that. When half the movie footage gets functionally destroyed I dropped from the level of fantastic.
