So we did the ill-advised Wind Tunnel commentary track for Taken and the Sky Captain nonsense, so it was time to step back behind the mic for another commentary track. I wanted to do Orphan but common sense won out and we chose a film Steve hadn’t seen. Ridley Scott’s almost awful/almost good Prometheus. It’s a film that would have been just fine if it didn’t cast such a large shadow and have so many assets to squander. Either way, we watched it and talked over it. It’s not very structured but what that we do is? Steve Murphy, Justin Waddell, John Makarewicz, and myself.
Enjoy! It’s embedded here or better yet, grab it off iTunes.

I would love to listen in Nick, but the show isn’t on the Itunes link.
It’ll be this afternoon. In the meantime listen to every other episode.
I hope you guys addressed the fact that seemingly no one on the ship has met one another until three years after leaving (like not even when they were boarding? What?) when they’re already at the ass end of space. Also, scientists doing unscientist-like things, such as trying to pet strange space monsters.
Starting right off the bad with a tony scot suicide joke and delving straight into complaining non stop. Riff tracks/mystery science theater this aint’ (although THAT would interest me for this film). I had to stop 45 min in. I myself am equal parts frustrated and pleased by the film. But this podcast was worse than any scientist petting an alien snake. It would have been WAY more cool to have a hard core hater of the film from your staff sit and watch with a full blown apologist and listen to the two have at it.
Then it wouldn’t be a CHUD-CAST and it wouldn’t be funny.
Best one yet. Nice to hear that hookah bubblin’ away in the background, too.
Actually, as we watched it, I realized that there are far more dumb moments in the movie than the scientists making nice with the aliensnakeworms. Like, all of the shallow nods to Christianity that they toss in. But, yeah, I felt pretty defeated by the flick as we watched it. Sorry you didn’t enjoy it. It would be interesting to hear two sides debating it. Actually, I wouldn’t be able to listen to that – I wouldn’t be able to take the defender seriously. But thanks for giving it a try.
UUUGGG, your right. You’r all right. I’m “that guy” aren’t I? the apologist. It’s just that I wanted it to be good SOOO BAD, and there ARE so many redeeming qualities buried in there. and if you look closely at the Weyland briefing scene Vickers totally says “to those of you whome I hired, nice to see you again” and it cuts to the two idiots who eventually “pet the snake” and later on when her motives are revealed it makes sense that she’d want the WORST people on the tea…no, no i must accept the truth. BUT IT MADE 400 WORLDWIDE AND A SEQU….sorry, sorry. I’m trying.
I am a man defeated
Holy shit, Steve Murphy, yes.
