Tim: Oh hai, Orson Scott Card! Have a seat. I hear there’s a new poster for Gavin Hood’s adaptation of your highly acclaimed novel. Say, that’s pretty cool, right?
Orson: “The dark secret of homosexual society—the one that dares not speak its name—is how many homosexuals first entered into that world through a disturbing seduction or rape or molestation or abuse, and how many of them yearn to get out of the homosexual community and live normally.” (source)
Tim: Oh. Um, I’m going to go stand over here instead…

That is one godawful poster for a movie with a $110 million budget. I know the book came out in the 80s (which is when I read it), but does the logo have to evoke that decade’s sci-fi iconography?
Dude has some sag built in to his pants…That’s Gangsta!
I thought it was an okay poster until I noticed all the kids in there shooting at each other, their weapons all going off in the same instant Marvel-cover style. Still, the book was pretty good.
It has that “Tron meets Moonraker” vibe.
It kills me how great that book is and how shitty Orson Scott Card is.
Yeah.
Maps in Mirrors is great, too.
But he is a nut.
