For a CGI-based transformation done on a cable show’s budget, I’m pretty impressed with the werewolf transformation you can watch above as a sneak peak of Eli Roth’s Hemlock Grove. The show is the director’s attempt to bring some real horror to Netflix’s original content roster, along with a interesting-looking supernatural mythos. From the look of it, the show will be an everything-and-the-kitchen-sink style horror drama with some real teeth. So far I’ve appreciated the series trailer (and the super cool poster) they’ve released so far.
As for the transformation, leave it to Eli Roth to find new, gruesome ways of putting a guy through a lycanthropic make-over. The teeth detail specifically gets me.
What sayeth the chewers? There’s no finer group of judges on such matters, after all…

Yeah, it does look okay because it does what a lot of CG effects forget to do and that is to take their time. Not to do things speedy. On saying that it’s still not as good as the transformations on American Werewolf in London or The Howling – and given that they are film over 30yrs old that’s pretty telling.
Cool transformation aside, I hope the teaser posters promising a bi-pedal humanoid creature weren’t misleading. I’m extremely tired of werewolves that are really just wolves.
I agree. I would like to see some bi-pedal werewolves running around and tearing it up.
I also like the nice touch of him eating his own discarded skin. That’s a nice touch.
