Good Day!
I’ll be syndicating a page from one of
several comic books I’ve been working on for the past year as CHUD’s
redesign came together [yeah, still working on that] in an effort to
make the site also be a haven for creative stuff that’s not just us
talking about movies and stuff but a place to share new stuff that
lives its own life. Stuff like my [hated] comic strip. Stuff like
CHUDstories [anyone want to spearhead that?]. Stuff like the Podcast
[which will be available to listen to directly off the site next week].
Stuff like some upcoming things we’ll be working on.
And stuff
like these comic books, which will run on CHUD.com for the duration of
their lives [and hopefully see print sooner than later]. You’ll be
seeing the comic books PAIN, The Crawl, The Bridger Adventures, This Hollow World, and possibly a few others.
Today, we continue Day of the Devil,
written by myself, drawn by John Toledo, colored by Jose Vega, with
layout and text by Simon O. Wright. It’s kind of my combination of the extreme horror comics of the 80’s married with the older school E.C. type stuff.
Day of the Devil, #2

This reminds me of Otomo's MEMORIES…except it has horribly drawn characters, hands and musical notes.
Oh boy.
Nick – I think a page of a different story every day is the wrong way to run these. You'd be better off doing it in small chunks; it's impossible to follow the story properly in this format. I've liked some of the others, but the art on this one is asshat.
I'm going to mix it up a little until a page is established and then I'm goign to do it in accordance with the artist's timeliness. Also, by using the term "asshat", your comments are rendered 40% less important.
As for the haters I only have this to say: Thanks for the continual hits!
Really interesting start and can't wait to see where it's headed. I do agree that it's hard to follow one story easily with the way it's being posted, but see where you're coming from. Keep up the good work.
Why not just turn Chud into a porn thumbnail site? Then you'd get millions of hits, and no haters.
Holyshit 1 page a week will ensure there is zero interest in this thing. I like the premise but the glacial method of delivering it to the fans ain't gonna cut it.
I don't get it. Is the girl shitting spaghetti?? That's some real explosive diarrhea!
1. i love the term "asshat"
2. i prefer the term "douchenozzle"
3. i dont think this is the venue for your pet project…good or bad
I think putting the series out mixed up a page from each a day is not such a fantastic idea, I like the page a day thing, but doing them one from each of your series at a time doesn't allow for much coherence.
You're welcome for the hits and I thank you for lack of talent and near psychotic need for approval. The anal rape you get from the talkbacks are always entertaining and your sad internet tough guy reactions even more so.
Nick, you have no business criticizing the word "Asshat", given your awful made up vocabulary. Touch dick Manitou.
Could you at least provide links to previous pages? I missed page 1 and this makes no fucking sense at all.
How many more of these are you subjecting us to, Nonesy-nada? Good grief. You're merciless…!
Well I'M intrigued. And my verification code is "braftp," which has to be an omen.
What exactly is it you feel you have to offer, Nick? Why all the soapbox rants, blogs and columns? Why the constant trotting out of comic strips, bands, movies, every one of them abandoned or in development hell. Spare us, please. Only a handful of these asshats are here for your creativity and charisma. The rest just want to talk movies.
On-topic: 1 page at a time is hard to get into. Most comics I like build and maintain atmosphere over several pages. Even action will often span a few pages. Of course, I can always wait until there's a bunch and then read them all at once.
Off-topic: Jesus, what kind of idiot knowingly clicks a link to a page of a comic book then complains that it shouldn't be there because he doesn't want to see it?
My 2 cents: These article page talkbacks are a good idea in theory. But in my opinion, you need to make these integrated with the regular forums. Each article should have just the thread related to the article displayed underneath. The same thread could be accessible from the standard forum area.
As with the normal forum, posting only by registered members would reduce a lot of the snide/trolling comments that make the talkbacks fucking depressing to read.
If you wanted the talkbacks to be "quicker", you could add username/password fields to the Add Comments area so that people could login in and fire off a post without having to login separately first.
I'm getting so desperate for offers from Hollywood, I would fuck Gloria Stuart in her gravehole on reality TV. I have so many ideas coursing through me, I drop development loads.
