After the two bad experiences of Office Space and Idiocracy, I couldn’t blame Mike Judge if he never wanted to go near a movie studio again. I figured that if we did see another Judge film, it would be in another five years or so, like the gap between his first two live action pictures. But Judge is jumping back into the game and not letting his latest Fox manhandling get him down. He’ll be directing Jason Bateman in Extract, the first film to come from the Ternion Productions banner, the company that Judge formed with John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky.
Here’s all that we know of the film: Written by Judge, Extract explores what it’s like to be the boss when everything seems to be shifting around you.

That’s interesting – Judge is coming from a very, very different direction than Office Space, that’s for sure.
Miramax will be distributing Extract, which means Judge’s Tom Rothman doll will not get any new needles in it for the foreseeable future.

I'm glad Idiocracy is finally finding an audience on DVD and that DVD success is considered respectable enough these days to get more projects off the ground. I hope Bateman tries something a little different this time though – I'm picturing his usual ArrDev schtick with that synopsis.

Idiocracy is a damn good movie. I'm anxious to see what Judge does next, especially after seeing him pump air in a dudes ass in Jackass 2.5.

Lets face it, Idiocracy/Judge are outright failures, despite whatever pick up they might have from the nerd community. It opened to 130 screens, which isn't amazing, but one would expect more than the measly $200,000 draw it got.
Beavis & Butthead -> Office Space -> Idiocracy, each time losing an order of magnitude in earning power. Fox is lucky to not have to touch this next one, which will probably be a steamer to put the half-pounders my obese, aging hound deposits on the grass each cold winter morning.
