We’d been hearing about the Gerard Butler / Jamie Foxx movie Law-Abiding Citizen for a while, and no matter what the news was, the hook remained director Frank Darabont. But Darabont walked away from the film within the last couple of weeks, which pushed it way back on the ‘films of interest’ roster.
And now F. Gary Gray is directing, which bumps it back even more.
Oh, and if you read the THR source article, don’t get too worried that he’s taken over the Nimrod Antal movie Armored. The one Gray might direct is a totally different film, with Eric Bana.

For whatever it's worth, I had a super tiny part in one of his movies and he was really nice and attentive. He was genuinely kind to every single person on the set and that day was hectic as shit for everyone.
Not that that makes him a good director or anything, but I'm just saying… there's that.

Yeah…I guess I understand this choice. I mean, who hasn't watched the cinematic masterpiece "Set It Off" and not wanted to hire this guy. Or "Friday" for that matter.
What a bullshit choice for what is starting to sound more and more like a bullshit movie.
I think the only movie of his that I enjoyed was The Negotiator, but I think that had more to do with Sam Jackson and Kevin Spacey than anything else.

frank darabont-totally overrated director…his characters just come out as cariactures on screen (especially in the mist, marcia gay harden's perf seriuosly belongs in saturday night live)….i did like his cameo in John Carpenters vampires though..cool
Actually "unknown user", Marcia Gay Harden's character in The Mist was Steve King's, not Darabont's. Additionally, anyone calling that character a "caricature" is seriously blinded by their own personal bias.
Uhh, Dick Cheese, you are aware that F. Gary Gray directed the original Friday and the Sam Jackson movie The Negotiator, right? We can only criticize the movies that F Gary Gray has actually made.
Looking at his filmography, F Gary Gray is sorta like the black Brett Ratner. There's some perfectly enjoyable stuff on there but nothing more than that. Of course F Gary Gray has a better name than Brett Ratner.
