Shock Till You Drop is reporting that Lawrence “He’ll always be Larry in our hearts” Fishburne has joined the cast of Nimrod Antal’s Predators. Feels like another of those movies that you can’t believe is actually happening ’till a trailer hits, don’t it? By then of course it’s too late.
Anyway, the film is shooting right now and he’s playing a character (gunslinger?) named Roland. He joins an already-impressive cast consisting of Topher Grace, Adrien Brody, Danny Trejo, Walton Goggins, Derek Mears and Alice Braga.
They’re a group of folks who land on the Predator’s home planet to find “unspeakable horrors”, so naturally they’re filming it in Texas. Does the Predator’s home planet have a name? Surely some comic or novel must have mentioned it…

None of the books gave their planet a name, but they did give a name for the species: Yautja.

He is NOT playing a character named Roland. Great job paying attention. He is playing a character named Noland. Close? Obviously. But you brought the Dark Tower into something randomly. Just saying. Also, I would kill for the Dark Tower film series to be made.

Apparently in the script the Preadators local walmart is built on a large deposit of rock called 'Reallyhardtogetium' and the humans have to go in and get it by spending in Whoopie Goldberg to get all touchy feely with the head pred.
Topher Grace too talented huh… I guess "liquid" thought his portrayal of Eddie Brock/Venom was perfectly epic.

Yeah as retarded as spiderman 3 was, topher grace showed more energy and charisma than that cute little girl they have playing spidey did in all of his screen time combined. sigh, if only he played spidey in a reboot of the franchise. fuck you raimi.

My guess would be that with this cast the intention is to make something decent, not sequel trash, but…I could be wrong.
Topher Grace is too good for this. He's so good, they should pay him NOT to star in movies like this. And since he would then be not starring in this movie, there would be plenty of other terrible movies he would have time to not star in. He could make a LOT of money by not starring in movies…
Walton Goggins will kick ass. Great actor!!
The topher grace hate is strange. Despite his character getting the royal assfuck in SM3, he still managed to give Brock more life to his character than Downs Syndrome Toby did to peter parker. I suspect his performance in predators will be very similar to Elijah woods turn in Sin city.
Is Lawrence Fishburne this decade's Danny Glover? And yeah, #7 is the shit. Well done.
Topher will look very out of place in this movie. Sure, he can act, but he aint no Arnie. Now, Danny Trejo, at least we're getting somewhere. I hope this movie won't be some Avatar pansy love movie, but more along the lines of the classic Arnie's fragfest.
