Over the course of this few minute trailer the arena in which all the fights take place doesn’t really get boring. But how about in the film? Will it be a drag to sit through a movie where every fight happens in the same environment? And how many of these fights that we see are actual fights and not just elements in a montage – the most popular way of showing your hero rising in the ranks of a tournament like this?
I only say these things to make sure you take this trailer for the Tekken movie with a grain of salt, because on its own it looks like it could be a film that delivers solid martial arts action that isn’t chopped to shit by editing and shaky cam. We’ll see what the reality is when this movie hits theaters or Netflix. Whichever comes first.

uh, your're being ironic right?…right? Thay looks awful
every fighting game should be like this, a tournament with fight after fight after fight! fuck MK and Street Fighter for not following what makes the games so enjoyable, its definitely not the stories..
Looks very meh …and I enjoyed the first Mortal Kombat movie.
Yes, #2, a 90 minute film of back-to-back fights with no narrative whatsoever is exactly what we need. This movie looks like a DTV Street Fighter sequel.
Please tell me you were being sarcastic and witty. This trailer was absolute rubbish and shit. I mean, it was fucking terrible. In which case, this might be your type of movie.
it looks like they followed the plot. fights more fights, tournament, blah. blah, blah. it's the same movie mk or street fighter would be. boring. but as a martial arts movie, the fights look like they could possibly be entertaining.
Take a look at that trailer and try and say otherwise without laughing, you Devin sir are in a class of your own! Why don't you get on with tellng us all how avatar will fail ? Ohhhhhhh I see, well I'm sure you could scrape another post out of that tired old chessnut that is planet of the gimps.
So I'm assuming this was made for the SyFy network. Or the clinically insane. Or the Dutch, those insolent, infantile Dutch.
As a Tekken fan, I think it looks Awesome! So haters can suck it!
Back in the day the director made a movie called "Rapid Fire", starring the young Brandon Lee. Now he makes this. Interesting.
What happened to the exotic locales, the characters "super powers", the fighting Panda/Bear, and most importnatly the ass kicking chicks with perfect bodies wearing almost absolutely nothing….
This looks like every other video game fighting movie, only with more oomph behind the punching sound effects. At least the DeSouza's Street Fighter was so bad it felt like he meant it as an Andy Kaufman-ish joke.
Win the world? Fuck this.
Christ that looked horrible. And not good horrible, just regular horrible.
where is yoshimitsu? you can't have a tekken movie without yoshimitsu
Yoshimitsu was there, you know, he's the one in the robot suit with the sword. Where the hell is Lei?? Jackie Chan isn't too old to fuck shit up.
This looks like an 80's Van Damme flick – you know, Bloodsport or Kick Boxer era Van Damme. Oh, and apparently slashfilm sucks. Apparently.
Are you serisou Devin? this looks good? no, no it does not. not at all.
With your nonstop hatred for All things AVATAR and starting in on all things INCEPTION. I will not give you the benefit of the doubt.
I seriously think you think this looks like a good movie.
What the hell is wrong with you man!
jak avaturd is a boring movie for emo treehugging faggets more and more fans are killing themselves due avatards shittyness….and so should you
Choreography looks cool…..but this looks like syfy tv movie crap. Too bad, when it came to the characters I always remember Heihachi and how much of a bastard he was. Not a bad villain.
every time i post this it gets erased. Let it be known that this hack gets paid to write reviews for movies by producers and directors, hence the awful movies getting good reviews here.
Was that Shang Tsung?!?!
…and thanks for bringing up Rapid Fire. I loved that movie as a kid.
Devin's not saying the movie looks good… he's saying it looks better than other video game movies… and that doesn't take much. At all. He's just saying the fighting looks comprehensible, and I agree with the man.
where's the giant panda and the tiger head guy?
Yeah, Devin's not actually saying what most of you are thinking he's saying. So, business as usual. Hey, Devin – are you getting nostalgia for the good old days of working with actual mentally handicapped people? You know, because they had an excuse for not having a full grasp of their faculties.
I can't believe Roger Huerta threw away such a promising MMA career with the UFC over this tripe.
"Guess I should be in more control" – can we seriously get a wimpier voice for the main hero? That's awesome.
Fail. I would have paid to see this if Kuma was the lead character.
Eddie Gordo is going to win.
Yeah let's bring AVATAR into every discussion. Does everyone need to like it?
I think it looks pretty entertaining for what it is.
Wow Devin…Just…wow. It looks worse than both Street Fighter movies having unsolicited anal sex with the mortal kombat films. And it sure doesn't look as good as D.O.A. Think about that for a second. It Does. Not. Look. As. Good. As. DOA.
Looks better than 'Mortal Kombat.'
Leave Devin alone- he was obviously high as a kite when he watched the trailer.
gotta appreciate the cheeseball 80's aesthetic and that its a fighting game movie about, get this, fighting.. no one gave a shit about the weak plots and sets of MK and Street Fighter, give me nonstop ice balls, teleport moves and "AWW-UKIT" uppercuts assholes!
ummm…Spike TV presents…?
1. That looks incredibly low budget (because I assume it was) and 2. Did I see / hear Luke Goss? He should stay away from arse like this and only do what Del Toro tells him to.
